High quality

I was worried about this shirt being too large based on the other reviews. I am 6’0 175 lbs and would normally go for an XL for sleeve length. However, most reviews say this shirt runs large. I got the L and right out of the box it seemed big, however, it’s 100% cotton. So I ran it through the washing machine in hot water and then put it through the dryer on high heat and it’s shrunk a bit down to perfect. Go a size down, but not much more than that. I’ll have this shirt the rest of my life.

No surprise coming from Filson, but this flannel is super high quality. The material is thick and durable but still soft. This was a gift for my dad, and he loves it.

This shirt is bomb proof. Sturdy construction, heavy flannel, and a classic look. I use it as a shirt jacket, and layer underneath it on calm winter days. Holds warmth like a champ. Size down unless you're a lumberjack.

Wear it always

Built to be daily driven, get style and cut.... My only criticism is that I wish the shirt was a bit more fitted. Mid-section is a tad loose.

Like some of the other reviews, I'd classify this as a "lumberjack fit". I don't think this is a good fit for someone who falls in the long and lean category, unless they would like to size up and use as an outer-layer. This is my second Filson button up (or is it button down?) and I'm very happy with the quality and can only assume that it will last as long as my other Filson which is going on year 3 with minimal fading and only a few replaced buttons. Great shirt.

Sometimes, I just want to be warm, and this shirt definitely qualifies ... the description says "midweight cotton flannel", but it's definitely one of the heaviest flannels I've ever worn (with the exception of wool flannels from the likes of Pendleton or Woolrich). I bought this one more as a top layer to wear over a turtleneck when it's warm enough you want to be outside; cool enough that you want an extra layer, but not cold enough to warrant wool or down. I like it. A lot.

The best flannel I own.

This thing is thick, tough, and rugged--exactly what you'd expect from Filson.

I wear this shirt A LOT. Its warm, super durable, and looks great. This isn't some thin, wont keep you warm, gets snagged on something and rips, crap flannel. Its thick, and ready to take whatever you can throw at it. Right when you put this thing on, you immediately feel reassurance in your purchase. Filson makes quality time pieces that generally out live their owners. The only reason I dont give this guide shirt a 5 star rating is because the fit. FILSON RUNS BIG.. seriously. Its not a joke. You most likely need to go a full size down in all their products. I'm 6'2, 200lbs and the Medium is a little long on me.. Although I have a jacket on over the flannel in my picture, you can see the length of it on me. Everything else about it fits great though. Side Note - Filson isn't trying to be your tech, moisture wicking, air - micro - anti -breathable - over the top company. They make quality pieces that have lasted the test of time...usually pairing well with the beer / whiskey drinking, pool playing, dart throwing, shot ski taking, bet winning, motorcycle riding into the sunset blasting Motley Crue not knowing where you'll wake up or caring.. type of person. Or maybe you just like reading a book at the park?? Idk.. just buy the damn shirt, you wont regret it.

Purchased this for my brother-in-law for Christmas, let's just say the dude was pumped to receive this. He wears everything hard and don't like to stand out so this shirt was exactly his speed. It may have been his favorite gift!

This was a gift to my brother in law, and he loves it. He works in water foul and lives on a farm, so he's constantly looking for clothing that meets his lifestyle, and he's always raving about Filson.

Fits large, except in the sleeves

Familiarity:
I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
Fit:

This is a great flannel, but the sizing is a bit funny. As expected with Filson Alaska-style shirts, it fits wide in the torso, almost how a size larger would have fit. Yet, the sleeves are too short. Sizing up to a Large would have been too big in the torso but just right in the sleeves. Not ideal for slim-fitting guys. That being said, the material is thick, heavy, and durable and the style is really flattering.

As you'd expect, this flannel is sturdy, comfortable, and fits well. The heavy duty cotton flannel is perfect for cold days, but not so heavy that you can't wear it inside. Love this flannel, looking forward to a lifetime of use.
