The Kurve for a little less.

Fizik’s Kurve series of saddles is designed to maximize comfort while minimizing padding. Fizik know that padding can degrade over time, leading to a saddle that’s not nearly as supportive as it once was. By using a single, continuous rail that runs around the perimeter of the saddle, the Kurve saddles provide support in much the same manner as a hammock –you’re effectively suspended between the rails.

This particular Kurve sadde is designed for Bulls, according to Fizik’s Spine Concept. Bulls are riders with a bit less spinal flexibility, who are more likely to tilt their pelvis forward on the bike, and thus need a bit deeper ‘pocket’ in the saddle for comfort. This saddle also makes use of ovalized, 7x9mm aluminum rails, meaning it will only be compatible with seatposts designed for ovalized rails.

    • 7x9mm aluminum rails
    • Mobius rail provides support without padding
    • Designed for “Bull” type riders, with slightly-less-flexible spines

    My new favorite saddle!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've been riding a Fizik Aliante gamma for some time and recently purchased the equivalent Kurve model, the Bull. First, it has oval rails so make sure your seatpost can accomodate before buying. I was skeptical of a saddle with no padding-relying on the stretch between the unique rail structure for support and cushioning-but it works. I only have a few hundred miles on it so far in 35-50 mile increments but it is looking like a keeper! I'm not quite sure why this saddle has to be $100 more than regular Aliante-I;m sure that you would see more of them if not for the steep price. Be aware that due to unique shape of rails at back of saddle, a lot of saddle bags will not work (ex. Topeak DX systems don't work)

How is this different than the previous gen Kurve saddle? The geometry and weight seem identical.
