    Streamlined, ultra-light support.

Not unlike a certain British espionage organization, the saddle craftsmen at Fizik save 00 distinctions for their most trusted saddles. A focus on lightness and flexibility led Fizik to the creation of the Arione 00 Saddle, made for gram-counting racers and the most discerning cyclists who aren't prepared to sacrifice weight, comfort, or performance in a saddle. The saddle's secret to shaving considerable weight lies within its Composite Carbon 00 shell, minimal padding, and one-piece Mobius Carbon Braided rails.

The Mobius Carbon braided rails use a texturized carbon cloth wrap for secure clamping, which enhances their durability, and they deliver a considerable reduction in weight to the saddle overall compared to other rail materials. During racing and training rides, the rails will absorb road vibrations and offer a stiff, rigid platform for the carbon Wingflex shell to sit atop. The Wingflex shell itself uses a foam layer sandwiched between two carbon layers to achieve its own balance of stiffness with some flex, adding subtle suppleness to the saddle without taking away from its responsiveness. Fizik further shows its close attention to detail with the Arione 00 by flattening the clamping zones' shape to achieve higher levels of vertical compliance.

Twin Flex technology allows the saddle to flex downward where your inner thighs rest to distribute pressure evenly. Furthermore, the Wingflex shell facilitates downward flex along the outside of the saddle to accommodate pedaling movement without irritation. Fizik finishes the Arione 00 with a smooth Microtex 00 Cover to protect it from the elements, keeping its weight impressively low — just 140g — by not adding heavy cushioning. According to Fizik, the saddle's lack of significant padding suits it to riders who have flexible spines, termed "Snake" riders within Fizik's Spine Concept, Fizik's saddle-fitting tool.

    Love at First Sit

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Every saddle that I have loved I could tell by the first sit. Any other saddle that at first sit I said, "Well, maybe I just need to get used to it" never, every became comfortable. The Fizik Arione, at first sit was heaven. Saddles, like helmets, can be subjective. One head fits one brand, while one head fits another. I have always like flat saddles, and this one is the most comfortable saddle I have ever ridden. Period. Over the years my posterior has been on Selle Italia Flites, and Selle San Marco Regales, but the Arione kicks them out of the park. All of these were flat with no center channels or cut outs. Those never worked for me. According to Fizik's system I am a Snake, IE flexible, and it feels like the saddle was custom made for me. Whether I am on the nose or in the center it is comfy - on pavement or gravel. The flex is perfect. The fabric has just enough friction to hold but it does not bite. The 00 Carbon model is a silly luxury, but one can get all the benefits of the saddle with any rail combo as I have in the past. I cannot comment yet on the longevity of this saddle, but other long term reviews rated it well.

I love the Arione saddles. I’m considering the Carbon rail version. Is there a weight limit on them?
