Replacing your stock saddle certainly can mean investing a significant amount of money, but it doesn't have to. We commend brands like UK-based Fabric for crafting saddles out of affordable materials that are accessible to a range of self-sponsored cyclists. The brand's Scoop line fits this description aptly, and Fabric fittingly makes it in three different shapes to accommodate different riding styles.
If you're racing, the Scoop Flat has the aggressive profile you're looking for to pair with your slammed frame geometry. If being in an "aero" position no longer holds much appeal for you, the Scoop Shallow encourages a more natural body position in the saddle as you duck into your drops and onto your hoods over the course of a ride. And if you're commuting and favor comfort and practicality over speed, the Scoop Radius' upright orientation is ideal.
While each saddle's shaping varies significantly, Fabric keeps construction the same throughout, using a nylon base engineered to flex so that you don't feel every pebble or piece of road grit you ride over. The forgiving nylon sits atop hollow titanium-alloy rails, which manage to be both durable and light without nudging the saddle's price to extreme heights.
Though Fabric favors minimal designs for the Flat and the Shallow models, both come with the same foam cushioning as their more forgiving sibling, the Radius. The padding adds some long-ride comfort and helps to absorb road noise, but Fabric demonstrates restraint when using it to make sure you won't feel as though you're perched atop a pillow. Finally, a loyal waterproof microfiber cover protects the internals from the often cruel elements, equipping the Scoop to become a fixture on your frame for the rides, races, and commutes to come.

- Q & A
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
The Fabric Scoop Race Saddle in the Shallow profile is an exceptionally comfortable upgrade from my factory spec Prologo on my E. Merckx. I am an old school guy and still believe that my 1980's vintage Concor was the best saddle ever, but the Fabric is a close contender. Seamless construction, forgiving but not cushy. No stress points on my 70 year old sit bones. Less than 50 miles on it to this point and I am very pleased, especially with the sale price and C.C.'s exceptional custormer service.
New favorite saddle
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
We are all looking for the perfect saddle. This is my new favorite. The width is a little wider than I had been using. It's narrow where it needs to be. It fits my integrated seatpost nicely (not all others did). It's as light as is reasonable and quite comfortable in my typical three hour rides. Previously I've used Fizik Arionne, Brooks Cambium C13, Selle Regal, Flite, Turbo and a few others.
I have had this saddle for 8 months no rail creaking
I have used about three or four other saddle and they all
have rail creaking after 6 months this is great saddle
