If you think REM cycles are out of reach in the backcountry, then it's probably because you're resting your head on a stinky pair of socks and a wadded up fleece. We're going to let you in on a little secret—it's called the Exped REM Pillow. Lightweight and made from recycled extracted modules, this inflatable pillow delivers comfort you can pack along on any camping or backpacking trip.

Great Pillow, My kids are monsters
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Wish there was 4.5 stars... I bought 2 for use on camping/hiking trips but I was hoping they could pull double duty and be used by my kids on car trips. I tried the pillow out and was really impressed with how supportive and comfortable they are before handing them off to the monsters in the backseat.
Unfortunately it took my kids less than a week to break the stopper valve inside of one of the pillows making it really difficult to blow up and maintain pressure. Bottom line, its a great pillow and if you have respectful children that allow you to have nice things you'll probably be fine.

- Familiarity: I've used it several times
Well I love this pillow! It's even more comfortable then the pillow on my bed! Since I prioritize sleeping comfort over anything else, I'm giving this pillow a well deserved 5 stars.
I picked the REM over the Thermarest compressible pillow because the REM can be quickly inflated/defleted to your licking.
It could be the most comfortable pillow out there, but would definitely need to be compressed with a compression bag to fit with the rest of my gear. Bought the Large version.
Worth the extra weight
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I'm already crying a stuff sack pump thing for my exped pad which is worth mentioning because I'm not sure how you would inflate this with out it. Super soft and comfy. Won't go backpacking with out it and that's saying a lot because my pack rarely gets up to 20 lbs on 1 or 2 night backpacking trips.
