I'm trying to find an upgrade to my boyfriend's hanes underwear which keep disintegrating on him. He spends a lot of time working out and as such has a 30" waist (though he's been getting 32-34 in hanes to adjust for his thighs), and pretty massive thighs that bust seams. He likes boxer briefs and I see all the great reviews but not sure any are from folks with a similar physique. Any recommendations on an appropriate size? Was thinking a medium...

I would go with a small actually. I am a 32-34 and I comfortably wear a med and ExO tends to run a touch on the bigger size. I don't think the tree trunk thighs will be an issue for him, we work with a lot of skiers and bikers. Hope this helps!

do these dry out fast?

Hey Michael - These definitely dry pretty fast if you get them wet. I have also used them as impromptu swim trunks and they dry in 5-10 minutes in the sun and wind. Feel free to contact me directly with any additional questions. - Kyle L. - Expert Gearhead

HI Michael, Yeah these dry super fast, the fabric (Give-n-Go) was developed by ExOfficio to dry extremely fast. I have used them on multiple backpack of 3-15 days and traveling all over the world - they work great and last a long time!

I just got my large pair, and they are not tight as seen in the pictures. Should I go for a medium, or is it ok for the fabric to not be motionless (lower part) Thanks.

Sounds like you should size down. The portion on the leg should be snug, like a light compression.

I wear 34 or 36 jeans would you recommend M or L for me?

If you are usually at a 36 I would go with a large, but if you are usually a 34 I would go with a Medium. That waist size is tough, because that is where the size splits. I am a 34 and can definitely say that it is on the high end of the medium option.

Go with the large, you can always grow into them. :)

I have to agree with 20r. Even if you don't plan on growing into them, it sucks to be too restricted.

Hi, I have always loved ExOfficio's normal...

Hi, I have always loved ExOfficio's normal boxers, however, I recently got a small hernia pretty low down and the doc said that I need to be wearing something that is much more supportive. He recommended a jock, however, that's just not very comfortable for every day use. I was wondering if these are fairly supportive in that area or if the briefs would be a better option. Thanks!

Hi Eric, The ExOfficio Boxer Brief certainly offer more support than the boxer. The Brief offers the most however. My recommendation would be to pick up a pair and take them to the doc for an official verdict. Taking chances down there is far to risky in my opinion!!

Can you wear exofficio boxer briefs under shorts or will they show if shorts are not too short obviously. Which are better for long distance hiking, the snug fitting boxer briefs or boxer shorts? Mike

Yeah you can wear the boxer briefs with shorts,, they are not too long. As far as long distant hiking, it tends to be a personal preference for the boxer briefs vs boxer shorts. I own 2 pairs of the boxer shorts and they are extremely comfortable. I just recommend what you are use to wearing.

Hi, How much difference in looseness/tightness...

Hi, How much difference in looseness/tightness compare to the Boxer ones? I'm planning to wear ExOfficio Give-N-Go under Merino long johns for my mountain expedition and I was thinking of getting Boxer Brief as from what I understand they are tight fitting. What about Boxer ones, are they very loose? Will they be uncomfortable to the body under tight fitting merino long johns? I'm 5.7 with 30" waist and so will be getting Size S in ExOfficio Give-N-Go. Thanks for your help.

I think you are right on. The Boxer Brief is a tighter fit and will be super comfortable! the Boxers fit like traditional boxers, loose. I wouldn't say uncomfortable, but they fabric will bunch up under a tight fitting baselayer. and yes I would recommend a size small. Be sure to send ExO pics from your expedition!

How's the waist band on these? I've got...

How's the waist band on these? I've got a couple pair of Icebreaker 150's, and the merino is nice, but the waist band is this sharp nylon/elastic type material that chafes and cuts into my skin a bit. Fine if you fold the waistband over, but then they don't fit right, and want to fold back. Also, how's the anti-stink on these? I'm always nervous that the artificial anti-stink additives will wear off after a few uses/washes.

The waist band is comfortable and as far as the anti stink I have never had any problems with odor.

What is the difference between the Boxer...

What is the difference between the Boxer and Boxer Brief? Does the Brief has a form fit? I have a 33" waist. What size should I pick? It sounds like a medium may fit better. Thanks!

Yep a medium is your size and the Boxer brief is more snug fit vs. a loose fit on the boxers.

Can you use bleach on the ExOfficio Give-N-Go...

Can you use bleach on the ExOfficio Give-N-Go White Boxer Briefs?

Hey Stan, bleach is not a good companion with nylon products. Bleach will turn nylon yellow as well as possibly weaken the fabric. You can use OxiClean which seems to be the most effective way of cleaning white nylons.

Yep Eli is right on...

LOL, love the video Keith

Do they make these in a long underwear...

Do they make these in a long underwear version? In the military, mideast would work wonders for sand chaffing.

Ex Officio doesn't, but there are many other options when it comes to light-weight synthetic long johns: http://www.backcountry.com/outdoorgear/Under-Armour-Base-10-Legging-Mens/UND0061M.html http://www.backcountry.com/outdoorgear/Marmot-Lightweight-Bottom-Mens/MAR0995M.html http://www.backcountry.com/outdoorgear/Patagonia-Capilene-1-Bottom-Mens/PAT0544M.html Check'em out. Maybe one of those would work for you.

two questions. One: why are these boxer...

two questions. One: why are these boxer briefs called Give-N-Go? Two: how many of you use a pair of these boxer briefs under a swimsuit, wetsuit, or even by themself for swimming, canoeing, tubing, surfing, waterskiing, diving, or any other water event? Also mention the water activity name, if you wear it without anything or what you wear it with, and the boxer briefs's color. okay, one more question. When i first registered in this website, they wanted a picture of "this gear in action". Does that mean i should post a picture of me swimming in my blue Ex Officio boxer brief? ( I have a picture of me swimming in my city's recreational pool with my friends while wearing red Fruit of the Loom boxer briefs and my blue board shorts that are a bit big handy) But no, if it ain't Ex Officio, it ain't goin' on this website. Sigh. Please respond.

lammy, Give-n-Go is the name of the material they are made of, and yes naming your product after the material would be like Levi's simply being called Denim. #2- Water sports- Yes and yes. While swimming in them alone may not be visually satisfying for the other participants, they work, but I would recommend holding them if you plan on doing any cliff diving. And yes again, posting pictures of yourself in your ExOfficio Boxer Briefs on a website for anyone with an internet connection to see and share while we appreciate the excitement you may want to think twice, or just let it rip!!

Bring on the pictures..... jaydog

I'm 6'2" skinny as hell = about 145-150lbs...

I'm 6'2" skinny as hell = about 145-150lbs and the size I should get is medium according to their chart. Several people mentioned to size down. Advice?

I'm slightly less lanky (6', 155 lbs, 31-32" waist) and got the small, which I've been happy with. They fit snugly, which I prefer, but not at all uncomfortably. They are actually tightest around my thighs; there is plenty of stretch left in the waist.

I am 5'10'' 150lbs with a 30'' waist. I got a medium, but wish I would have purchased a small because these boxer briefs now fit like boxers. Not tight in the thigh at all and very loose around the jewels. Hope that helps.
