I take this shoe with me on every climbing adventure. It is very comfy for crack climbing and I love how high the rubber wraps up the side of the foot and around the toes. Great gym shoe, or inexpensive all around shoe.

Good basic shoe

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Height: 5'7"

I use it for the gym and I havent come across anything where I thought a better shoe would make a difference. Lets me save my better shoes for when it really matters...outside!

Good shoes.

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size

I bought a pair for my sister and had to return them and get a larger pair since it was too tight. Besides that, she had no complaints about the shoes.

Great all-around shoe

The Evolv Spark is a shoe that does everything pretty well. I've used it up to 5.12 on sport routes, and it does the job on everything from slabs to big roofs and negative sloping stuff. Are there shoes that are better at specific things, yes. But for $85, you cannot get a better all-around climbing shoe. I have no problems wearing these all day, and I downsized a 1/2 size just for a more aggressive fit. Toes are fairly asymmetrical which allows you to edge better, and since they're synthetic, they won't stretch. My climbing buddy has a pair of La Sportiva Miura VS's, and while great for overhanging and powerful sport routes, they're uncomfortable to wear for more than an hour straight at the max. Not these! Once again, I have put these through a wide variety of route types, and have never encountered a situation where I couldn't complete the route because of my shoes. They do everything well - toe and heel hooks, smears, and edges, and although I would say nothing about them is extraordinary, for $85, they can't be beat.
