Rave Climbing Shoe

Downturned climbing shoes are all the rage these years, but Evolv's Rave Climbing Shoe's flatter last still proves its worth on dead-vertical climbs or heinous slabs. It's moderately asymmetric to balance comfort with precision, making it an excellent choice for technical footwork on dime-sized edges in the middle of a multi-pitch. The VTR rand maintains a solid fit that will never result in a baggy heel, and unlined leather stretches for a cusomtized fit and feel. The full-length midsole maintains all-day comfort with solid support, and Trax SAS rubber is Evolv's most durable option that offers the best traction.
  • Comfortable climbing shoe designed for all-around sending
  • Flat, asymmetric curvature balances comfort with precision
  • Unlined leather upper stretches to customize your foot shape
  • VTR rand wraps around the heel for a snug fit
  • Full-length midsole maximizes support and comfort
  • Trax SAS rubber sole optimizes traction and durability
  • Item #EVLZ03C

Awesome shoe

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer
Fit:
True to size

The sizing goes with street shoe sizing. I wear street US 11 and US 11 in these as well, I do not like to wear tight shoes as well, I prefer a shoe I can stay in for a long period of time at the gym or on multipitches and these were a perfect fit right out of the box, if you want them to be a bit ,ore snug, downsizing a half size would help out. I'm sure these will stretch they feel like they may. So comfy. Great for crack/slab climbing and bouldering. Your feet turn yellow after some sweaty sessions. I use these, TC pros and Butora Altura shoes as my go to outside and inside shoe now and its a perfect quiver for in and outside climbing!

Great slipper for general bouldering

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I use these as my general climbing shoes - I boulder indoors and outdoors. I ordered my street shoe size; they were tight at first but not painful, and they loosened up slightly by the end of my first gym session (wore them for 2 straight hours). They're now comfortable and for my level, pretty versatile. The shoe is flat and the toe is pretty round, so I would probably switch them out for steep overhangs. They stain my feet slightly; not as obvious as red Moccs, but it's noticeable. I can't say how much they stretch as I've only worn them a handful of times. I have a slightly wider foot for women's shoes, and found these to be really comfortable. For size comparison, I wear EU 37.5 in Miuras, W 7.5 street shoe.

RAVE Review for Evolv

I've been searching for a training shoe with relatively neutral fit because I have a couple of pairs of bouldering shoes, but the don't allow for long training sessions. I've been curious about slip-on climbing shoes for sometime, and my expectations were pretty low about trying the RAVE. However, I'm very impressed by the support, comfort, sticky rubber, and fit of these slip-ons. The leather upper is very comfortable. The heel is nice a snug. The leather lining allows the fit to stay tight without any edges digging into the achilles. I really like the elastic band at the top of the foot and I hope it stays snug. I chose my street shoe size. Looking forward to see how they stretch. I expect the lateral areas of the foot won't stretch due to the surrounding rubber, but my toe knuckles might stretch the top leather upper over time. Evolv did a good thing here. I recommend these shoes to anyone looking for a supportive training shoe. 3 Month Update: These shoes are still my favorite to climb top rope or lead routes. They are just as comfortable as they were initially with minimal stretch. I’ve worn them almost every session, at least 3 sessions a week for the last 3 months and they are a terrific all around shoe. Bought the new Scarpa vapor lace at the same time and still haven’t worn those but twice.

It's been a couple months now—how's the stretch? Do you wish you'd sized down at all?

Thanks for the review, I’ve also been looking for a slip on but haven’t found one that fits my foot shape yet. My scarpa vapor laces are the best fitting shoe I’ve found yet. What size vapor lace are you compared to these Raves?
