Six-inch retractable claw not included.

With a six-inch retractable claw, velociraptors probably got the true first ascents of most rock climbs; consider the Evolv Men's Raptor Climbing Shoe your own claw for climbing your hardest grade yet. Its semi-asymmetric last and moderate downturn help you step up your game from beginner boulders to steep sport climbs. Trax rubber grants the Raptor claw-like traction, and the half-length midsole assists with edging on dime-size footholds. Evolv made the upper out of unlined leather to stretch and conform to your foot for a customized feel.

  • Trax high-friction rubber sole and rand for grip and protection

Decent shoe for the gym or multipitch.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: 11
  • Height: 6'
  • Weight: 180lbs

Decent gym or all day multipitch shoe. Crack climbing is good at first, but that midsole gets soft and the jams start to hurt after the midsole insert gets soft. Just like the evolv addicts. Durability is ok. I'd prefer opposing Velcro fasteners like scarpa, but these work ok. I usually have trouble finding shoes that fit and have low heel void. Evolv Addicts are horrible for heel void. These are better than average, with low heel void.

I have whats called a large volume foot. Also a fairly prominent Achilles tendon. I wear 11.5 evolv addicts (right foot takes longer to break in), 12 evolv shaman (old version), 44 scarpa vapor v (new version), 43.5 scarpa origin, 10 mad rock pulse positive and 12 five 10 ansazi guide . The raptors I wear in 11. Hope that helps someone for sizing.

There is no rule for sizing shoes. My street shoes are size 10.

comfortable, but not that durable imo

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Second pair of evolv shoes i've had (good sign, going back for more). They are really comfortable, and broke in nicely, however, like my last pair the rubber wore down really quickly on the inside around the big toe. If they didn't wear out so quickly, I'd be much happier with them. I climb 2-4 times weekly at the gym, and these burnt through in 5 months. Maybe i'm hard on shoes...? I had a pair of Scarpa that lasted a year. going back for more Scarpa to see if they just have more durable rubber...

I'm a ten in almost anything. Tired both ten and ten and half. Both still too small. Order at least a full size larger.

Not true to size

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: 9.5

These are solid shoes, but they are not true to size. I ordered and returned, and ordered and returned, and ordered and returned, but they still didn't fit.
I am a size ten all day long, but these shoes are just not accurately sized. No offence to Clint, but you are wrong.
If you really have your heart set on these get two sizes bigger for an accurate fit. I have given up on these shoes, and am returning them for the last time.

Great gym shoe

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

This shoe is very similar to the Defy (Item #EVL000E) but with a slightly more aggressive profile. The velcro straps tighten down well and I have had no problem with slippage. If you have worn out your first pair of shoes and are looking for something a little more aggressive with out having a large downturn, this is the shoe for you.

Clint, I'm wondering about the sizing/fit. I live in Fairbanks, AK so no real way to go try on shoes at a shop. I currently wear 8.5 Mad Rock lace ups, typical beginner shoe. Wore them out, looking to upgrade. Did these shoes match up with your normal shoe sizes? I was thinking of slammin into an 8 and letting them stretch a little?
