    Let the battle begin.

In one corner, weighing in at ten tons with over a dozen overhanging climbs: Bishop's Buttermilk boulder. In the other corner, you in Evolv's Luchador SC Climbing Shoe. Built off a slightly cambered last with a semi-asymmetrical toe profile, the Luchador SC battles each boulder's overhanging moves down low, the edge-fests in the middle, and each slabby topout with technical prowess. Evolv's VTR tension rand and a full-length MX-P midsole ensure a rigid performance. The durable Synthratec upper features a non-shifting padded tongue for extra toe-hooking comfort, and the leather footbed works with the microfiber footbed for internal comfort. Trax rubber makes sure the sole keeps its high friction for seasons.

The first Size fit too small.

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 11
    • Height: 5'5"
    • Weight: 145lbs

I first bought a pair in 10's I wear a street shoe of like 9 or 9.5 and they were too tight. To the point of extreme pain. I went up a size and bought 11's they ended up fitting much much nicer. So I went up a size. Some people say to go down a half size but for me personally I went up a whole size.

    Fits too small

The rubber feels good, but I never had a chance to try to climb with them because the fit was way too small. I wear size 10 shoes and ordered a size 10. It felt like it was less than size 8 fit.

    Disappointingly Small

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small

I wear an 8.5 street shoe. I normally buy climbing shoes a little small depending on the brand. Based on a previous reviewer's sizing recommendation that the Luchadors run small I ordered a pair of US size 9. The shoes arrived today. They are so small that I immediately boxed them up and printed the return label. In particular, the shoes are too short for the size.

I like the look of the shoes. If I order Luchadors again I will probably go for the 10s. I wonder if the recent batch runs small.

    Very very very tight

It's ridiculous how tight this shoe is. I fit 10.5, but i decided to bought 11 size and it's absurdly tight. I think the number 12 should work, but i don't know if i'll try Evolv again .

    Good shoe, includes pics

I've had these for about a year and I have beat them up to hell. I wear them 5/7 days a week and have done everything from indoor bouldering to outdoor multipitch. They aren't so comfy on multipitch though lol. I wear a 9.5 in these shoes as well as merrell hiking boots. They hold up well with a fair amount of stretching as they wear in. I sized down a bit to compensate for this. The only complaint I have is that the band of rubber that wraps the heel has split on both my shoes. The toe box will stretch and your toes will settle well after a few weeks. I'm going to buy another pair to keep in reserve.

      Jack of All Trades

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 10.5
      • Height: 5'10"
      • Weight: 150lbs

I have been climbing on my Luchador's for just over a year now and they have proven themselves to be my go-to shoe for just about any situation. The Trax rubber is great and really does have that perfect balance of stickiness and firmness that can tackle any style of climb. I wear a size 11 street shoe and decided to go with a 10.5 for a "performance" fit. If you are wanting a little more all day comfort I believe fitting them true to size would be acceptable.

Just what I was looking for

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: size 10

I love the Luchador. I wanted a shoe similar to the Pontas II and that is exactly what I got. The Luchador is a little more down turned. The wide top strap allows for better control on your foot. The Luchador also has a one piece tonguewhich in my opion feels more comfortable than the split tongue you would find on the Pontas II or the Defy.

      Unanswered Question

I've been wearing Evolv Defy shoes for years, and looking to upgrade. I contacted Evolv, and they suggested this shoe.

I wear Defy 7.5US/40EU, should I get these in the same size?
