A durable tent that's in it for the long haul.

Die-hard campers need a tent that's not going to quit on them after just a season or two; the Eureka Mountain Pass 3XTE 3-Person, 3-Season Tent is designed to stand up to constant use and exposure to the elements. Tough aluminum frame and high-mm coatings in the fly and floor endow the 3XTE with extra durability; this tent also features a large, versatile fly with two vestibules for easy gear storage.

Cozy, dry, lots of storage space.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Used this tent for a family backpacking trip. Super sturdy construction. Fairly easy to setup. I did use all the stake points including the guy-lines and it looked great setup. The overhang of the rainfly offers some protection even if you don't have the vestibules fully setup. With the vestibules setup you can easily fit 2 large packs under each vestibule without blocking the doorway. The tent is so long (7.5ft) that many people could even fit a pack inside the tent at their feet and still have plenty of room. Stayed warm and dry on cool nights. I was able to see the stars out the open vestibule door as I went to sleep each night. For privacy there is also an internal window that can be closed instead of having to close the vestibule.

Cozy, dry, lots of storage space.

    Awesome Tent

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I took this tent the last 2 weekends and it is awesome! The ease to put up and take down is great. The inside had more room then I thought. I put a double Alps air pad in with plenty of room for my gear. This past weekend it got down in the low 30s with wind gust of 30 to 40mph and when I stepped in the tent it was like I went inside a house. This thing is solid!! I haven't had the chance to test in the rain but I would assume it will hold up just fine. If you're looking for a rock solid tent. This is it

    Awesome Tent

    great tent!

We took it on a river trip and loved it. I've had Eureka tents before and I love the little improvements. Great vents and the vestibules held a lot of gear. Double doors made getting into bed after the kids were asleep a piece of cake!

      Excellent tent.

Perfect size, great ventilation, quality materials, huge vestubles. Noticeably heavier than my lightwedge 2 but for the extra room and vestubles the little weight is worth it.

4 glitch-free seasons of novice trips

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I take out trips of novice backpackers on backcountry alpine 5-7 day trips. They can be very tough on zippers and stress points because they don't know how to enter/exit. Have been using four Mountain Pass XT tents for four seasons now and not had a single zipper failure or tear. They are easy to set up so even the noobs are good to go after one show and tell. They are pretty forgiving as well so even if flies aren't perfectly tight the tent stays dry. Good product for the price.

Is there another Eureka (or other brand) footprint that will fit the dimensions of this tent? I am referring to the custom nylon footprint, not the Eureka plastic "pre cut" sheets. Thank you

I just received my Mountain Pass 3 XTE, looks great. My question is should I still just stuff it like I did with my 25 year old tent or are the new tents supposed to be folded and rolled like the old canvas tents were?
