Ergon SR3 Pro saddle-Large

I recently ordered this saddle in white color to match my bike frame and save $30.00. I have come to prefer flat saddle tops for comfort and leverage. This saddle was ordered as a replacement for a Selle Italia SLR that was broken during normal use. First things first...I weigh about 215lbs and when climbing I use leg leverage by anchoring hard to the back of the saddle with my sit bones, so I am tough on saddles, but have never broken one until the SLR? I read the review on this sight about hamstring pain and I experienced some of that when I first started riding on it. The outer shell is slippery as the saddle is designed to allow the rider to be able to change position as needed easily. After about 20 miles of the hamstring soreness I began to welcome this issue as for me it was a cue that I was sliding a bit too far rearward? So occasionally after hard pulls or climbs (maximizing my leg leverage by anchoring the sit bones to the rear contour), I would simply pull forward a bit to reposition and all was great! I have the saddle positioned level from the base of the contour to the front. With this position my “junk” is not in any way uncomfortable, and I feel the same relief with the partial soft tissue relief the middle channel provides as I did from the SLR that has eliminated the mid perineal area. I have always felt the term “comfortable saddle” is an oxymoron but this saddle goes a long way towards that! You just need to do your diligence as with any saddle to fine tune your saddle height, fore/aft, and tilt. Thankfully my 2 bolt Thomson seat post allows for this.
My Hamstrings Weren't Happy

I was excited to try this saddle but it just didn't work due to the strange shape, and I tried adjusting the angle and setback a couple times. The back of the saddle has a nice butt pocket, but when positioned there (and farther forward) the flared corners dug into my hamstrings with each pedal stroke making riding extremely uncomfortable. There is minimal firm padding, but that wouldn't be a problem if the ergonomics were better. If they hacked off those odd corners this might be a great saddle. As for the construction and materials the saddle is very nice, which is no surprise since it is made in Italy by Selle Italia.

Is there a difference between the Tinox...
Is there a difference between the Tinox rails and carbon rails beyond just the weight (i.e. does one material dampen vibration more than another, durability, etc.)? And are the shells on the Ergon SR3 and SR3 carbon the same?
I've found that carbon rails help dampen vibration a bit over metal rails. The major difference though is the rail size. The metal rails are 7mm round and the carbon rails are 7mm wide and 9mm tall, so your seatpost clamp might not be compatible. The shells for the SR3 Pro and SR3 Pro Carbon are "Carbon Fibre Ultra Thin Y-Flex Construction" as stated on the Ergon website. The SR3 shell is a GFK-Composite.
