Technical XC racing calls for low-profile grips that will work with you, not against you, in situations where small mistakes cost significant time. Ergon understands this well, and the company engineered its GX1 Grips with fast grip changes that leave little room for slipping around on the bars during hard-charging, dynamic XC courses.

Poor Clamp/Grip Edges

I normally like Ergon grips. These seem like a step back compared to the GS. The internal structure lacks the guide for the grips at the clamp like the GS. This means you can tighten the clamp down so far as to create a noticeable edge or gap at the grip at the spec 5nM.
Also, the are grey not black. The package says grey and the look grey.

It doesn't take too many miles off road for my hands to start falling asleep. I've optimized my cockpit proportions and used every bar out there (Jones loop are the best) but the single best change is ergon grips. When properly positioned, the flared grip promotes my wrist to a neutral position. Grip, comfort and handling are still on par with the cylinder grips I'm used to (Lizard Skins, ODI, ESI etc.). Install is breezy. Get some.
