    Fatigue relief.

Ergon's grips were developed to reduce pressure on your hands, namely your ulnar nerve which, in turn, helps to mitigate numbness from long stretches in the saddle. The GS3 grip is the ideal compromise between its lightweight GX race grips and its plusher GP series grips.

The GS grips are a medium size and shape between the GX and GP series. It falls right in-between. The "3" in the name refers to the length of the integral bar end. In this case, it's longer than the GS2 bar end and is ample enough to wrap all four fingers around it.

The wing shaped support is where many glove makers are stitching on extra padding these days, and it provides more support for your hand. You'll perceive less pressure on your palm because of the increased surface area, and the soft kraton rubber gives just enough and allows supreme grip, even with sweat soaked gloves. Textured rubber inserts have been placed on the top of the grips. Ergon uses a softer rubber compound here to help dissipate vibration and jolts on the trail.

The angle of the grip is important and worth the time to find the position that works best for you. The clamp is integral into the molded GFK Composite bar end and should be tightened to a maximum of 5 Nm in order to avoid handlebar damage once you find the right angle. Both the grip and the bar end are independently adjustable, and indexing marks make it easy to get the two grips to line up identically. Ergon has found that most people go with the small size. The smaller diameter is lighter, a bit stiffer, and easy to grab. Those with big hands and those who spend long, long days in the saddle might want to lean towards large.

Please note: when mounting Ergon grips with integrated bar ends to carbon fiber handlebars, it is necessary to confirm that the handlebars are both rated for use with bar ends and are able to accommodate 6-8 NM of clamping force. Most carbon bars are not designed for use with bar ends, which can result in structural failure if applied.

The Ergon GS3 Grip is available in two sizes — Small and Large and in the colors Black or White. The Small features a 92mm cross-section and the Large is 102mm. The set comes with bar plugs and installation instructions.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Bar ends may have gone out of vogue on the general mtb scene, but they are alive and well (as are my hands!) on the bikepacking shenanigan side of riding. I love the GS3 for giving me greater hand positions for long multi-day rides (paired with flat bars). They are easy to install and will work with most bars. The small size is perfect for me, without feeling too bulky.

    These saved my hands!

Put these on my bike for the Lutsen 99'er. For that distance, it was super nice to have some hand placement options, really helped me avoid the fatigue that I felt in my upper body the last time I did this race. For me, these only go on the bike for endurance races. Most of the trails I usually ride are really tight and at times, overgrown, so hooking branches is a concern. But, they're perfect my intended purpose.

    Nothing else like it

If you are looking for a good touring grip, or something for long commutes, this is a solid option. Nice big surface to distribute pressure and the bar ends create options for your hands that are a nice relief when you are on a long ride. Some people like these for mountain biking, I have found with wider bars the bar ends can be more of a hazard especially when riding in areas with lots of vegetation and the additional real estate for your palm can be less than ideal when shifting your body further and further behind the saddle while mountain biking. But for commuting and touring I love them.

    Just what I needed

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These grips are just what I needed. I've always preferred flat bars on my bike, but the downside was the lack of hand positions, and the numbness that would eventually show up using traditional grips.

    Enter the Ergon CS3.

The ergonomic shape helps keep the wrists in a neutral position, thus relieving pressure on the nerves and keeping feeling in my fingers. The integrated bar ends are just the right size and provide an additional position for the hands to prevent fatigue. The're also independently adjustable from the grips so you can dial in the position that's most comfortable for you.

Just one caveat: It can take a little time to dial in the perfect position for these grips, so I recommend taking an Allen wrench on your first few rides to adjust the fit on the fly.

Overall, I'm glad I pulled the trigger on these. Definitely a great addition to any flat bar bike.

    Great grip

Sure there are lighter grips out there but if you want all day hand comfort plus multiple hand positions these are the grips for you. I have them on my single speed and geared mountain bikes. They do take a little getting used to and getting the correct position. Perfect grips for bikepacking.

    Help relieve fatigue on hands.

I was looking for a way to improve my hands position and avoid fatigue during riding. These grips gave me that choice. They are very comfortable, easy to install and set they way you ride and give you that hand position during riding that you are looking for. Also you have integrated the bar ends that will help you change your hands during riding to avoid fatigue. Very pleased!!!
