    The all-rounder wheel.

ENVE doesn’t just jump into new designs. This is well-evidenced by the six years it took to develop the profile of the M60 Forty 29in wheels. To begin with, ENVE left behind the traditional bead hooks for a beadles hook bead. This design is not only lighter, but it just happens to be more impact resistant, a quality sought after on the rocky trails of the Wasatch mountains, which ENVE calls home. The width is 23mm inside, which gives the rim a rounder profile for cornering stability. Additionally, the M60 rims also feature added vertical compliance, for rider comfort, that doesn’t compromise the lateral integrity of the wheel. The 29in M60 Forty rim weighs 397g, making it 40g lighter than the previous AM rim, and nearly the same weight as the XC.

Each carbon fiber rim is hand-built right near us in Ogden, Utah, to exacting standards. They are laced to DT Swiss 240 hubs and are available with either a 6-bolt or Centerlock rotor interface. Additionally, they come with either a standard freehub or an XD driver, making them compatible with SRAM’s one-by-eleven drivetrains.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

There are a lot of great carbon mtb wheel options out there. But the 5 year warranty is what keeps me loyal to the ENVE brand. It has be my experience in the past that ENVE holds true to their guarantees and honors their warranty if you are the original owner. MAKE SURE TO REGISTER YOUR WHEELS ON ENVE.COM! I bought the M60/forty series to replace some 50/fities that came on my Scalpel Team. The M60s have a slightly wider internal rim profile (2mm wider than the 50s) and are also a bit more robust which should add a little extra backbone when these are blasting around the local Park City trails.
These carbon wheels ride awesome but like ANY product associated with mountain biking, a bad bounce off a boulder or a poorly chosen line can sign the pink slip to one of these super-tough, super premium wheels.

    Great wheels.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I got a ride in and these are fabulous wheels. I've got the older XC29 Enve's and they're great but a little narrow. The new M60s are the the same weight, but increase the width by 4mm. It doesn't sound like much but this is huge. Strength also increased significantly. This might be the best all around MTB wheel made.

Note to everyone buying the DT Swiss 240 centerlock versions of these wheels, make sure to order a lockring that is compatible with 15 mm axles such as Shimano part SM-HB20. The standard lockring that uses a cassette tool for tightening and comes with most rotors will not work on the front hub. The hub's axle fills the entire opening in the lockring preventing a cassette tool from being inserted. DT Swiss, Shimano, Bontrager and a few other companies make these 15mm compatible lockrings that have splines on the outside instead of the inside and are tightened with a bottom bracket tool instead of a cassette tool.
