The king of the all-rounders.
Most of us, to be honest, don’t have the luxury of picking between XC race wheels or rally-ready enduro hoops depending on the day. That’s OK, though, because we can simply slap the ENVE M60 Forty 27.5in Wheelset onto our favorite trail bike and call it all good. Better than good, actually, because the M60 Forty bridges the gap between high-end XC and burly all-mountain wheels—it’s virtually the same weight as ENVE’s XC rim, but a few millimeters wider so you get more rubber on the ground for better traction around high-speed corners and through duffy off-camber chicanes.
ENVE redesigned the bead, too (they call the new design a “hookless bead hook”, so OK), which actually holds the tire even tighter, so you can run crazy low pressures for unreal grip in Mountain West moondust and high-desert hardpack. The ride quality of the M60 Forty is killer, too, combining ENVE’s famous “on rails” precision with just a hint of give to reduce fatigue through rugged and rocky sections of trail. DT Swiss’ responsive and rugged 240 hubs round out the package, providing their signature buzz and acceleration in a virtually maintenance-free package.
- A lightweight trail wheelset for riding heavy lines
- Carbon rims tuned for cushion and speed
- Reasonably wide rim lets the tire sit fat
- DT Swiss hubs are the standard for custom builds for a reason
- ENVE continues to amaze from its headquarters in Ogden, UT
- Item #ENV000O

Kept to their word
I'm not that skilled riding, fell off a couple of rock garden drops, cracked my stem and buckled my Enve M60 Forty 27.5 front rim. Had it sent back to my dealer and Enve replaced it with no questions asked.
Yes, down time is not good and it is a pair of expensive wheel set but I can think of worse service from other wheel manufacturers too.
Must have hit a rock on the side.
Shredding my ENVE M60Forty Wheels
Supplement to my previous review. Just a little action on a fast decent at the bottom of Switchblade on Moscow Mountain just North of Moscow, Idaho. Sorry I am not faster.
Enve M60 does it all
This wheel is fast enough for the Friday night crit and strong enough for the seriously technical and rocky Sunday 50 mile XC at the Grand Junction Off-Road.
The Best Wheelset EVER
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
My preface: this review is my opinion and not objective fact.
I bought my first mountain bike in 1992...and I have owned several since. This is my first 650b/27.5" wheeled bike but that doesn't make me hesitate when I declare these wheels to be the BEST ever made! I have ridden some fairly high-end mt wheels (Stan's Arch and Crest, Shimano XT, just about everything offered from Mavic) and maybe it is that these are my first carbon rims and/or maybe it is the change in wheel size from 29er to 650b but I suspect it is much more than that...these are ENVE carbon rims. I never knew wheels could ride so nice! Obviously, rolling mass is an area where an upgrade will make a larger impact but the difference between the M60Forty wheels and anything else I have ridden is HUGE! These wheels are SO SO stiff and inspire confidence I have never felt before in over 20 years of riding the mountain. They were easily set up tubeless and roll up to and maintain speed nicely via the Chris King hubs (I had Mike Nelson, ext 4076, special order these. As with all Comp Cyclist reps, Mike is AWESOME!!). I am sure there are plenty of other lightweight options but these are NO compromise wheels! You plunk down the $$ and ENVE WILL deliver the goods!!
If I had to complain about anything, the decals are dinged and scratched easily (signs you are riding right, my friend!) and they are très $$$$. BUT if you can afford them, you can't afford not to ride them! You will not be disappointed!
My quick plug for 650b/27.5": I went from 26" to 29" and now, 27.5" and each have there +s and -s. I agree with many that state 650b is the best of both worlds. Still, I think/hope this size will grow and settle in as the trail/All Moutain standard...and I am sure that my incredible experiences on these wheels (and my Santa Cruz Solo/5010) have a lot to do with the 650b standard. Still, I keep more than one 29er in my fleet and feel it is the best size for racing. For what it is worth...
