Many single speed cogs will take a toll on freehub bodies over time. Their narrow nature paired with a whole lotta torque makes for trouble. Our friends in North Carolina developed a brilliant solution -- the Endless Bike Kick-Ass Cog. A full quarter inch wide (6.35mm) at the splines, the Kick-Ass Cog simply will not damage your free hub body the way a narrower cog can. It's crafted from high strength 7075-T6 alloy (Stronger and harder than most common steels), right here in the U-S-of-A.
Endless Bike Kick-Ass Cogs are precision machined insuring perfect axial and radial alignment that compliments the superior chain lines that cassette style hubs allow. The specially engineered tooth profile on Kick-Ass Cogs improves both cog and chain life while minimizing drive train friction. Because of this, you can expect a smooth, quiet drivetrain -- no more grittiness.

Best SS Cog I've Used
- I've put it through the wringer
Doesn't take much to be spectacular in the SS category but the details matter if you want to set yourself above the rest and the Kick Ass Cog delivers. One of the most important parts is the freehub body interface as no one wants a cog destroying their freehub body and this one uses the widest base I've seen measuring at 6.3mm on my micrometer. Not only is the base wide, the precision machined splines fit tighter than most cogs so you'll have ZERO play on the freehub body and another bonus for not trashing it. Endless recommends anything BUT a single speed chain which causes premature wear so I've been using it with a 10speed chain for months with no signs of wear and no chain drops. If you can find your size, this is one of the best money can buy.

Does the Job
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Finding a reliable, lightweight and cost effective rear cog can be tough. This one fits all three - thought a bit higher on price than desired. I suppose, however, that the 7075-T6 provides a serious sense of confidence that it'll stand up to tough climbs. In this case, I needed this gear to race Leadville and was completely happy with its performance. Never did it feel like it'd slip or compromise the hub with the torque I was putting on it. Also, I run it with a 10 Speed chain.

I've used them with no issues on both 9 & 10 speed chains if that helps at all.
