    Cozy Puffy Skirt

On the lookout for an insulated skirt that sat closer to my hips than my waist, I ordered this (Eider in size 38) and the Smartwool Smartloft 60 (size Small). I'm usually a size 2/4 -- 26 jeans (and waist), 35.5-inch hips, muscular thighs... Unfortunately the Eider skirt was 1) a touch too big. It actually came this close to sliding over my hips with leggings on, and 2) the zipper crawled down a bit on its own. That said - the amount of insulation in the Eider skirt is perfect, sumptuous and warm. And it's reversible (and if you're short, you can flip the bottom of the skirt up for a super fun look). However, even though the Smartloft 60 is a bit thinner than I'd like, it 1) fit better, 2) has a stretchy waistband that seems like it will stay put on my hips, and 3) has a drawcord for tightening the skirt up if it does stretch out, so it was the winner.

Love it! Can I have another one Santa?

I've had this skirt for 3 years and it's been a staple in my winter wardrobe. The down does an excellent job of keeping your bottom warm and the short length looks adorable with leggings. I wouldn't recommend wearing this skirt without leggings or something underneath. I'm a ski patroller at a local resort and I throw this skirt on over my base layers (plus ski socks, jacket, beanie, and Sorels) and dash 1/4 mile to the locker room for morning meeting. It rocks in performance! It's warm, resists wet snow, doesn't snag on stuff (tree limbs, etc), and it's a way to look feminine & stay warm in the winter. This is my first Eider product; I'm impressed by the quality! My only suggested improvement is I wish it came in gun metal grey. Oh yeah- the zipper and side buckle have been bomb-proof over 3 years and still work great! Never snagged or caught on fabric and had to be un-stuck. The item description says synthetic fill, but I swear mine has real down inside- I can feel the feathers.
