Excess 9.6mm EverDry Unicore Climbing Rope

Edelweiss's Excess 9.6mm EverDry Unicore Climbing Rope is strong enough for sport climbing and light enough for alpine routes. At 9.6mm, the Excess is an excellent introduction to intermediate climbers looking for something lighter and more supple. Its Unicore construction bonds the sheath to the core for long-lasting durability and better handling. Edelweiss treated this rope's sheath with EverDry for decreased water absorption and enhanced abrasion-resistance, and there's a mid-rope indicator for faster rappel setups.

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Originally bought this rope for ice climbing. Disappointed in its performance. The water treatment was pretty poor right off the bat. It was basically a sponge that liked to absorb water right away. Definitely better dry treated ropes out there. After a few ice climbing days with it and not too happy with it, I downgraded the rope to rock climbing, hoping that dry treatment would help with it getting too dirty too quickly. Found out it loves to get tangled. No matter how I flake it or store it, it always twists. My climbing partner and I laugh about it every time we use it because we know what is going to happen. Also seems to fray faster than other ropes I had.
