    The dreaded rope rub disappears.

Don't expect any wear when you pair Edelrid's robust HMS Bruct Steel FG Locking Carabiner with your belay device. This strong steel locker has a convenient belay retainer to prevent cross-loading, and the keylock nose eliminates rope-snapping. Edelrid constructed the Bruce with a weight-saving H-profile design.

    Expect the Unexpected

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I was looking for a carabiner that would help not have a cross load when belaying. This seemed like a perfect work as it was cheap yet simple design to take care of that. I finally received it and it's descent. Does take care of the job, but the keylock nose has a weak spring so it's easy to whip the rope through. But since cross loading happens when the carabiner is loose, this takes care of the job. I wish this were more of the Black Diamond gridlock, but I prefer a locking carabiner than a non-locking one.

    Worth the Weight

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I picked up a couple of these because I was tired of wearing out lockers when belaying or rappeling.

We could fuss over the weight and say that it weighs a bunch but I'm okay with that since my life is worth the money and weight.

Along with the steel, the other part I like most is the belay loop retainer since it helps prevent against cross loading the gate.

And the screw gate is pretty smooth.

    Belay Carabiner

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Solid carabiner great for belaying adding no doubt to belaying or repelling. Loop at bottom keeps carabiner oriented correctly and no chance of spinning or flipping on the gate.

    heavy but awesome

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

No question this is a heavy carabiner. But it is holding true to the expectation of no wear despite frequent use, and I love it paired with the Edelrid megajul 2 for toproping at the gym.

    Great for Canyoneering

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I picked this up for canyoneering. It can take a ton of abuse and wear. It is heavy but it will last for a long time. The belay loop is nice. I like to extend my device away from me and I personally like the belay loop in those situations. I also like to use Oval biners in canyoneering but for a steel belay safe MHS biner... $25 retail price is pretty tough to beat.

    Bomber biner!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

It might be heavy, but it will handle lots of abuse! I got this to use with my Mammut Smart Alpine Belay device and it has worked perfectly. My favorite part is that the spring bar keeps it locked onto your belay loop and prevents cross loading. If you need a super solid belay biner than pick one of these up today!
