Why We Like The Superlite 175 - Z12 Binding

For more than 30 years, Dynafit has been leading the charge with featherweight race bindings, and the Superlite 175 Z12 Binding shows that high release values don’t have to compromise weight. Weighing less than 13oz per pair, these race-caliber bindings have lateral release values ranging from 6-12. This allows skiers to let loose on the descent, and the bindings can also be fitted with a brake if desired (sold separately).

Pin fell out several miles from the hut

I cannot recommend these bindings at all as something this light is made for long excursions and they did not hold up for me at all. The pin fell out of the binding in transition. These were brand new, I had skied once on resort with this binding to ensure they were in good working order, then took these out on a pair of skis for a week long hut trip in BC canada. On our last day, I was transitioning from tour to ski and looked at the binding as I was putting my boot in and noticed one pin was missing. I was about 1.5 miles of touring away from the hut and still had to do some massively long ski runs to get back so I was panicked. Luckily we found the pin in the snow, which was a miracle, so I was able to tape the pin in place but skied ultra tentatively and pretty much lost a full day out. Be careful with this product as they totally failed me, I luckily found the pin but I could have been in for a very very rough day of bootpacking/using a tree branch as a snowshoe to get back.

Light but not durable?

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Definitely light - however the fork of the heal broke after less than a year of usage. I've used multiple bindings of Dynafit over the years, and this was the first time that I experienced a failure. Luckily it happened while skiing in a resort. Maybe just bad luck.
