Speed is the game.
Bulky waterproof bibs are a bit overkill when the weather's clear and your logging upwards of 7,000 vertical feet in a day. For days like these, the Dynafit Men's TLT DST Pants will get the job done thanks to their breathable and wind-resistant stretch softshell fabric and slim-fitting athletic cut that keeps the weight at a minimum. The TLT's minimalist design consists of just two thigh pockets, lower leg zips to make accessing boot buckles a touch easier, and an adjustable waist to ensure a secure and comfortable fit for the skin track and bootpack.

perfect uphilling pants for like 95% of my ski touring days. I get out before work about 4 days a week either at the local resort before the lift turns, or at my favorite backcountry run. These sessions tend to be solo and time crunched which means that I tend to go at a pretty fast pace, and generate a good amount of heat, and I am moving nearly the entire time. These pants are perfect for my weekday solo exploits. They are stretchy and comfortable, the cut and cuff is PERFECT! I cannot stress how hard it is to find touring pants that are cut slim, but not lycra tight, but also have cuffs that work. The material is great. breathable, just enough warmth, and have blocked the wind well. In well below freezing conditions they will do just fine with baselayer. And should shrug off most moisture for all but the most wet storms. The vents are functional, as are the pockets. the waist has elastic and velcro tabs to snug up, which I do not like and may mod, but it works. I went with a size small, and they fit me nearly perfectly at 5' 11" with a 30 inch waist - the waist is actually a little big.
For the big mountains, days with more precip, or touring with a group that is moving slowly, I could see going with something a bit burlier or warmer. but for moving uphill, these pants are the best I have found with the best fit and cuff I have seen yet.
