A lightweight, hooded down jacket that resists water for longer-lasting warmth.

You've hit the American high peaks, and now you're aiming for 8,000-meter conquests. Given what's on your dance card for ascents, it's fitting you picked up the Dynafit Men's Cho Oyu 750 Hooded Down Jacket. For your Asian expedition, this slim-fitting lightweight down jacket packs into its own pocket for easy traveling on the flight from Minot to Shanghai and barely adds a pound to the careful weight calculation you've done. Go ahead and take the extra chocolate.
Down dominates the insulation world, with one glaring footnote. Typical down, when wet, won't keep you warm. You might as well be naked given how little benefit down imparts when the heavens open. Dynafit geniuses saw the problem and created DownTek as the answer. This treatment makes down feathers and plumules resist taking on water, regardless of the source. Sweat while skinning to the next camp or get stuck in an intense flurry of snow without worrying about the insulation falling down on the job.
Pertex Quantum face fabric lightens the load so you're not humping up 2000-foot ascents with a four-pound jacket on your back. The DWR treatment on the shell helps water bead on the surface instead of laying flat and sneaking inside. Four-way down chambers, aka baffles, ensure even and consistent down distribution, even after you've been wearing a pack for several hours. Elastic cuffs keep the sleeves snug against your wrists, and a one-hand hem adjustment makes it simple to seal out cold.
The insulated helmet-compatible hood holds in body heat trying to escape through your roof. Adjustments let you tighten the hood around your head, minimizing skin exposure when you're standing on an exposed ridge above treeline. Multiple pockets hold extra food, lipbalm, and a point-and-shoot camera to record your achievement.

    Killer/unique jacket

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large

Somewhere between a typical down jacket and a parka - this jacket is off the charts useful. It's warm and parka-shaped enough to hang out in all but the coldest temps. Also light enough to toss in the pack for just-in-case or to use as a mid-layer, although obviously way heavier than some. So not as good as either a parka or jacket for certain things... but it can function like both. I think that's pretty cool. Bill in the hood is smart.

As far as fit, I found it pretty typical athletic fit - not a crazy euro fit. Perfect fit for me.

    Very nice jacket

I dig this jacket. It is very warm, and has a nice slim fit. The soft fabric around the neck is an excellent feature that doesn't appear to add much bulk. I am 6' and ~150lbs and the medium fits perfectly.

Wore this in Japan when temps were in the 20's (-6 degrees Celsius) and this kept me warm. Much better than my previous down (Montbell Plasma 1000) though the comparison is a bit unfair. Like the fit as well.

    Finally a good fit

So I returned 2 arcteryx thorium hoodies after both the medium (too tight around torso) and the large (way too loose) did not fit well. Also I really didn't like that there was no drawstring on the hoodie and only 2 hand pockets.

This hoodie though heavier is much nicer looking a great fit (I'm 5'10" and 180), went with the large after talking to a gear head. The euro fit keeps it fitted around the torso and I don't mind that it is a little long as it doesn't ride up like other puffs. There is a hoodie draw in the rear to keep it snug and maintain visibility but large enough to accommodate helmet when loosened, there is a flexible wire that provide structure for the visor part of hood and 2 chest pockets (inner which is large and acts as a stow for the entire jacket) in addition to 2 lines hand pockets-- very comfy. Also the neck and chin portioned is also lined with fleece like material and much more comfortable than the thorium which was particularly sweat inducing around the neck. It's not quite as warm as the arcteryx but still fine for most purposes and layering with a shell. Unless you are doing some very technical/back country activity where every ounce counts I highly recommend this product for its look, fit, and functionality.

Personally, I feel the jacket runs a little more athletic than some other jackets that are similar. I am typically a size large and own this in a large, but would probably move up to an XL. I am 190lbs and 6ft tall. I do like a roomier, yet not boxy fit in this style of puffy.

I agree with this. I'm right around 6'1'', 165lbs., and the XL fits me perfectly. The store only had the XL and I was worried that it would feel too large, but it really is perfect. As has been mentioned in other comments, the arms may have fit a bit too snugly if I had a size lower. The rest of the jacket doesn't fit boxy at all, plenty of room yet still an athletic fit. And on top of it, this is the best weight/warmth ration I've ever had in any jacket! 10/10!

    Possibly my favorite jacket

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

I love this jacket. It's a thinner Euro fit like other comments have said. Which is true. I'm 5'10" 135 lbs and got a medium. Comes down right around my butt. Great coverage. The down is super warm, I skied with just these puffy and a baselayer today at Snowbird and was plenty warm. The quality is amazing - exactly what you'd expect from Dynafit. It compresses super small, and is extremely light and you still feel agile while skiing.

    Bottom line:

If you're looking for a warm, comfy, stylish, high quality puffy jacket this is the perfect one for you. Very comparable to the Atom and other down jackets. Great buy.

    Like the fit

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs small

I like the Euro fit of this super warm hooded down puffy. I am 6'4" 200 with a + ape index, to find arm lengths that fit I usually end up sacrificing body fit and swimming inside of jackets. This one is an exception, fits me like it was custom made for me.

I am going to say "runs small" the truth is it runs "slim/trim".

    NIce puffy

Box baffled construction so not sewn through. Good warmth for the weight. They grow them a little samller in Austrain...except for Arnold. So they are a little tight skimo skinny sizes.peet
