    Unleash the beast.

When Dynafit expanded its backcountry freeride line with the Chugach and Hokkaido skis, it built them around a Double Elipse Rocker profile that was able to adapt to just about any condition while maintaining a fun, fluid ride during the descent. Dynafit has taken that same technology and applied it to its new Beast line, and the Beast 98 Ski is arguably the most versatile in the lineup.

The ski maintains the same Double Elipse rocker profile, which allows the effective edge to either lengthen or shorten as the skis are rolled on edge—this gives the ski a predictable, catch-free feel as you initiate and release a turn. Full sidewalls offer a more stable feel when skiing at high speeds, while carbon and fiberglass laminates increase torsional rigidity and keep the weight just under seven pounds in all lengths.

    • Lightweight touring ski with an appetite for creative lines
    • Versatile 98mm waist for boot-top pow and variable snow
    • Full rocker profile offers a playful, predictable feel
    • Full sidewalls increase durability and drive power to edges
    • Ash and poplar wood core with carbon and fiberglass laminates

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

My backcountry set-up progression went from seriously heavy, titanal, freeride skis with frame bindings to Dynafit Tour 88s with TLT Expedition bindings - so as heavy as possible to just about as light as possible.

I found a happy medium with these Beast 98s with ST Rotate bindings. This set-up shreds. I skied 18 inches of fresh in the Wasatch last weekend and had no problem laying down figure 8s in the fresh, nor did I struggle on the uphill. I also have full confidence in using these skis on hardpack, variable wind-whipped conditions, techy lines and couloirs, and anything in-between. These skis really are as close to a backcountry quiver killer as you can get. I really recommend for anyone from the skier totally new to the backcountry to the experienced skier looking for a new ski that they can take out on any day regardless of season or intended line.

    Great ski for variable conditions

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I've skied these twice now and I've been quite impressed. They're fairly light so they climbed really well and were super compliant/ playful while descending. At 98 mm underfoot these'll perform incredibly well in any condition. Would highly recommend.

one ski to rule them all

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I was lucky enough to test these skis for 2 weeks in Chamonix last year. I couldn't have asked for a better ski to crush all the variable conditions I encountered on that trip. Its was super fun railing turns on hard pack and ollieing off moguls and windlips. The tail was super solid on sketchy steep faces and in pow they were awesome, even though pow is always awesome. Its pretty damn light too, paired with super light bindings, it was a dream on the skin track. At 98 underfoot its the most versatile ski you can have.
