Chimera Carabiner

DMM designed the Chimera Carabiner with a ridiculous weight-to-strength ratio for gram-counting climbers and alpinists. The Chimera only weighs one ounce and can still take the impact of free-falling climbers; a ratio like that beats the competition whether you're looking for a lighter carabiner or a stronger one.

Great kit.

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I mostly rack my cams on these. They are petit but still very workable, with very snappy and SNAG-FREE gates, and weigh very little.

Meets all the criteria

A carabiner is a carabiner, right? NOPE! You want it light? Check. You want it to be visually stunning? Check. You want it easy to clip? Check. You want subtle but amazingly engineered? Check! You want something that encourages tangle free slings? Check. Buy the best. Buy 100 of the best and make it rain carabiners on your dirtbag friends at the next campfire. And with this carabiner and a few other DMM 'biners you will probably have a whole crag named in your honor.

She's converted

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I bought these for my mom and this is what she had to say, "This is the first DMM carabiner I've had. To be honest I needed the purple color to rack a purple cam. It's great and I just bought 4 more to use with my slings to make a couple alpine draws. "

How does the size of this carabiner compare to the WC Helium?
