Diamondback starts with a lightweight, durable 6061-T6 aluminum frame to keep the El Oso Grande nimble and responsive on challenging trails, and it made the decision to omit suspension in the design to create a lighter frame overall. SRAM's X5 compact 10-speed drivetrain provides you with a wide range of gear ratios to use as you navigate slick mud and deep snow, while TRP Spyre mechanical disc brakes promise consistent, reliable stopping power when you need it.
Looking at just these components, the El Oso Grande could easily be a normal mountain bike — but all pretenses at normalcy evaporate when you consider the included extra-wide rims and Chaoyang Cruiser tires. Measuring just less under five inches wide, the knobby rubber platforms absorb bumps effortlessly and float across snow-covered singletrack in conditions that would be considered hazardous for road or mountain bikes.

There's not much in original parts on my El Oso Grande (New components include 120 mm RST fork, X Fusion Hilo, 26/ 11-42 1 X 11 drive train, Maxxis Minion FBs, cheap but effective Formula C1, etc.)
The bike, as is, is very adequate and much lighter. The FSA 26-36 is a good basic set-up, the TRP Spykes are probably one of the best mechanicals that I've ever used and the Chaoyangs are good, fat snow tires.
I'm 6' 2" and am on a LG....with the enormous tires, a MD would've probably been large enough and easier to stand over.
A very good intro level fat bike that can be built up with improvements and grown into.
The only negative I have is that it seems heavy.....but it only seemed really noticeable with the addition of the suspension fork and dropper post
