    Speed Lite SL 30L Backpack

As one of the larger options of Deuter's lightest day pack options, the Women's Speed Lite 30L SL Backpack is made for conquering long days and steep treks. Weighing less than two pounds, it still holds enough room for layers, lunch, and water, but won't slow you down when you've got your site set on multiple peaks and need to move swiftly. Zippered stash pockets on the waist belt keep your phone or lip balm close at hand, while the zippered lid offers a spot to keep your lunch so it doesn't get crushed. A hydration sleeve makes it easy to sip from your 3 liter bladder without pausing to dig in your bag, leaving room in the two side stretch pockets for a summit beer or two.

If the backbone of the Speed Lite is the tensioned Delrin U-Frame, then the circulation system is the Lite Air back panel. It offers minimalist padding without detracting from stability, and cool ventilation on warm days. The padded shoulder straps and breathable waist belt keep you comfortable on longer treks, and both can be adjusted for carrying larger loads.

    • Lightweight day pack for hiking steep and hiking fast

    Light pack

I would love to volunteer to review this pack after I hike the Camino Del Norte in the spring. I am convinced I could use this for a 30 day excursion!

    Walk This Way

    I've used it several times

I was given the Deuter Speed Lite SL 30L Backpack by backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion. I took the Deuter Speed Lite SL 30L Backpack with me on several day trips to Whitewater State Park in Minnesota. It's a beautiful park with a variety of trails. If you plan to spend a day here you need to have a pack that is light and comfortable. The bluffs are steep and narrow in parts and it's important to have a pack that will remain comfortable whether your scrambling up a rocky bluff or meandering through the meadow lands and this daypack did not disappoint. While certainly unique looking the Deuter Speed Lite's mesh backpanel was surprisingly comfortable and breathable, it allowed for more air flow across the back and helped with wicking moisture away while hiking. Even heavily loaded with gear, water, and lunch the ergonomic design made wearing the pack all day feel effortless. The thickly padded and easily adjustable shoulder straps and hip belt kept strain off lower back and hips and made even long hikes comfortable. A big plus for me was the large main compartment that was complimented by several smaller exterior pockets. Small mesh zippered pockets on the hip belt are perfect for stashing keys and other small items. Plus the top zip pocket is perfect for keeping items you might want quick access to like your phone and a map without having to open your pack. Overall I was greatly impressed with Deuter Speed Lite Backpack. There's plenty of storage and can be heavily loaded and still remain comfortable. Definitely recommend!

    New Partner In Crime

    I've used it several times

I was given this product from Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion. I can preface by saying I am a fan of lightweight packs for ease on the trails. My overnight hiking pack is the Mammut Trio Pro, and this Deuter Spped Lite SL 30L pack has quickly become my favorite day pack. Plenty of storage pockets for quick access to trail snacks, keys, phone, sunscreen, etc. and straps to stash trekking poles or to quickly tack clothing layers. Love that is has the ability to add a hydration bladder. The little sunglass holder on the strap is great, too! I took this pack on a trip, and it lay flat in the bottom of my travel duffel, taking up very little room/weight in my bag- which is great if you are flying! Hiked 11 miles up Mount Elbert with it, and it was the perfect size to hold my layers, food, and other supplies for the adventure. It even has side pockets to hold your summit celebration beers! The straps, though streamlined without a ton of padding, are comfortable and fit well across my shoulder, and the waist belt fit well around my hips. I’m 5’8” and 135lbs, with a long torso, and I was able to adjust the pack to and ideal fit. All in all, I think the Deuter Speed Lite SL 30L is a great day pack!

I Don't Need Extra Training Weight

    I've used it several times

I was given this product from Backcounty, but this review is my personal opinion. I have owned many backpacks over the years from all different brands. By far this pack is one of my top favorites. It fit the perfect amount of gear for a day hike and perfect for a carry on when flying for an outdoor adventure. I am 5'6 and 180 lbs. I have a shorter torso and longer legs. This pack's hip belt felt well on my hips, adjusts easily and the arm straps fit great on my shoulders. There is no slipping or rubbing in the inner arm/arm pit area. I have wide climber/swimmer shoulders and this tends to happen with some packs I have owned. I have enjoyed the pockets on the sides for quick access to a water bottle, sunscreen and bug spray. The back ventilation works very well and the little touch of the sunglass holder in the arm strap is a great! Overall, I would recommend this pack to friends, family and you!

When the approach is steep AF

I've put it through the wringer

I was given this product from Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion of the women's Deuter Speed Lite SL 30L Backpack. Typically, I go for Osprey packs, but I figured I'd give this day pack from Deuter a shot...very happy I did. I had trouble in the past finding a day pack that could fit all my climbing gear and sit comfortably on my small frame during longer approaches. I'm 5'2" with a 24" waist and I had no complaints after a hot, steep approach for a day of sport climbing in Moab. The padding and ventilation along the shoulder straps, waist belt and back panels were just what I needed to move fast in warmer temps and avoid the dreaded hip and shoulder rash from carrying weight. I was able to comfortably fit a 60m rope, 15 draws, climbing shoes, harness and, of course, some post-send beers with room to spare. I find that the Deuter Speed Lite SL 30L Backpack has just enough pockets to keep me somewhat organized (which is truly a feat) so I can avoid full-on gear explosion once I get to the crag. I wouldn't take this pack on a multi-day backpacking trip (that's not what it's meant for anyways), but it's my go-to for longer climbing approaches when I don't want to skimp on the gear (or beer) that I bring.
