A year-round do-it-all alpine pack.
Deuter designed the Guide 30+ SL Women's Backpack to be a tough, versatile workhorse for ladies who hike, backpack, ski, climb, and bag peaks. The SL Women's Fit system is designed to fit shorter back lengths, narrower shoulders, and wider hips for more comfortable carrying, while the Air Mesh shoulder straps and padded air-channel back help provide ventilation to keep you cool when you're walking to the crag, billy-goating down a knife-edge ridge, or heading out for a weekend backpacking trip.
When things heat up in serious alpine terrain, the Guide has tons of removable pieces to let you go fast and light. The foam back pad slides out and doubles as a sitting mat, while the padded hip belt, pivoting Vario-Flex hip fins, and aluminum X-frame stays all pop out to help you trim ounces and gain flexibility. Of course, the Guide won't carry heavy loads as comfortably without all these suspension pieces, but for summit pushes and fast hikes, it's a trade-off worth making. If you're heading out for a three-day mission, the Guide has compression straps, ski-carry straps, a daisy chain, ice-axe carry, and lash points to accommodate plenty of gear, along with an extendable 6L lid for extra storage space. With top and side access, it's always easy to find your gear, and the 330D Duratex nylon ripstop fabric means you won't have to worry about dragging your pack over rocks and through thickets.

- Q & A
Deuter Guide 30+ SL
Is this bag waterproof or should I invest in a cover?
The 330D Duratex fabric this pack is made from is waterproof thanks to a PU (polyurethane) coating. In situations where the bag could become submerged, the zippers would be the only weak point. A cover should not be necessary unless you plan to be in very heavy rain for extended periods of time.
Awesome - thank you!
