Designed to go light and right.
The Deuter Women's Aircontact Lite 45+10 SL Backpack is athletic, sleek, and adapted specifically to the female anatomy. With its minimal weight, ergonomic fit, and modern design, this do-it-all pack offers lightweight, reliable comfort on any hiking, trekking, or mountaineering outing. Its name might look like an algebra equation, but Deuter designed this multi-day pack to help you escape from the annoyances of civilization (like math).
Designed for durability and comfort, this pack starts with a water-resistant and abrasion-resistant combination of fabrics, while the Aircontact Lite suspension promotes fresh air circulation between your back and the pack to help you keep cool. Hollow aluminum cross stays offer lightweight support and help the pack move with you, while compression and stabilizer straps manage the load. You don't want to wind up at the mercy of a wobbly pack when you're trekking through the backcountry, which is combated by the Aircontact Lite's slender shape to give you a greater range of motion during your alpine quest.

- Q & A
Lightweight and comfortable
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I was given the Deuter Air Contact Lite 45 + 10 SL women's backpack from Backcountry.com, but this review is my personal opinion. I received the Graphite-Black color. The color is similar to the picture and the pink/maroon color accents break it up a bit. The materials are high quality with nice thick, but not too bulky padding on the straps. The pack is lightweight and Deuter's Vari Quick System makes it easy to get a proper fit. I am 5'6" and 120 lbs. Loaded up with 20 pounds, I found the pack comfortable and easy to carry particularly with the padded shoulder and hip straps. It is easy to stand upright with good posture rather than the usual hunched forward walking that ends up happening with most packs. I assume this is because of Deuter's " X-Frame" and the additional adjustments that can be made to get the weight of the pack off your shoulders and more evenly distributed. The aircontact system works well and my back did not get hot and sweaty. The hip belt pockets are actually of a decent size so you can fit your phone without a struggle and easily pop it out for photos. 5 minutes into one of the hikes one of my kids needed to take off a jacket and easily shoved it into the external pouch. The side pockets fit variable size water bottles and are secure for snacks and other things you want handy. Even when the pack is not full, it does not feel too large or bulky. I was able to fit everything for a week long trip to Belize using packing cubes and had plenty of room for travel size swim fins and mask and snorkel. There are a lot of other features that I have yet to use such as the hiking pole attachments, helmet holder and hydration pocket. As for cons, the adjustment webbing straps for the padded hip belt are really, really long. The extra webbing hung down to my knees once I had the waist belt tightened. It would also be great if it came with an integrated rain cover but that has to be purchased separately. The Deuter Air Contact Lite 45 + 10 SL is a HUGE improvement for me in comfort and function than any previous pack I have used. Since it is lightweight and comfortable, it will get much more use for even short hikes when you need only a few items.
