Trail SL 28L Backpack
Deuter tailored the women-specific SL suspension system on its ACT Trail 28 SL Backpack specifically for backcountry adventurers looking to carry heavy loads of gear comfortably. Stash a day's worth of supplies inside, get to them quickly via the dual-zip front access when you need to, and then hit the trail in comfort with the breathable Airmesh-lined shoulder straps and back panel easing your load. AirContact Trail uses contoured shoulder straps with a mesh lining, a ventilation channel between the pack padding, breathable foam back pads, and anatomically-formed hip fins to make heavy loads comfortable to carry. The SL Women's Fit System has soft edges to the straps (which are shorter and narrower), smaller buckles, curved west belt wings, and shorter-length suspension system.

Fantastic Rugged Pack
I bought this pack almost 6 years ago for field work (I am a biologist). I work and hike outside in the desert sun every day for at least 8 months a year with this pack and it has held up beautifully. It has the exact number of pockets I need, can fit everything I need for a long day and cinches down as well for when I'm not carrying much. I've even taken it on a 3 day backpacking trip (with a lot of stuff tied to the outside). It's super versatile and I'm simply amazed at how well it has withstood years of constant use. The only thing that is even beginning to fall apart is one of the straps is starting to fray a little bit. Great pack, well worth the money.

Great features :) ...but the colors...
The pack itself has good and smart features. I wanted a pack with at least one zipper pocket on the side for storing small items during the hike (who needs three stretch pockets without possiblity to organize small items safely?... no, for me it is not practical to store all this stuff in the lid pocket), and with a hipbelt pocket large enough to hide my (small) smartphone (obviously, I don't need the phone at hand to spend my hike with calling :D but I think more and more people including me use it as a camera... so how so many brands can nowadays- in the era of smartphones- make these pockets so small?). So this backapack has fullfilled my criteria. It is also comfortable to carry and has optimal volume for all-day hike. BUT I have to admit that the colors offered I fing really boring :( OK, black is a golden standard, leaf-navy can be said that is so-so vivid (but not my color preference), and maroon is a noble color but better for the evening dress... on such a pack it seems dull. Why not something fresh like turquoise, magenta, blue, orange...? It frustrates me that even the colors of the men's version are more attractive (at least they have blue and cranberry option). I don't want to be trivial but I think the pack with this kind of features and volume is a first option for each hiker so it would be nice to have more colors to choose. Finally, I have the maroon one, at least and hopefully, I can use this unobtrusive look for many years :)

Best backpack EVER!!
I have had this backpack for a few months now and I absolutely love it!! It is sleek and small, yet full of strategically placed pockets to keep your things organized when you hit the trail. I love the inner and outer zipper pockets at the top- they thought of everything while designing this pack. My favorite feature of all is the main compartment zip that opens up the backpack like a mini duffel. It makes it so much easier to find your things that are at the bottom of the pack and stay organized. There is also room for water bottles on each side, one pocket zips up while the other is an open slip pocket. The lightweight versatility of this pack cannot be beat. Thanks Deuter!!

I am considering this for international carry on luggage. The limit is 55 cm high. Can in be 55 cm if the top pocket is not stuffed?
