Sufficient Protection but Small

Size chart put me at M for waist measurement but S for Hip measurement. Went with the S and it's a tight fit but still wearable. Offers sufficient protection for a reasonable price. The product picture is wrong, it seems to be for the X D30 version of this pant.

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Great protection for trying jumps, rails, and tricks! I love wearing these under my snow pants for feeling protected from a gnarly fall.

Kept me ridng after bruising my tailbone

Last season was my first season and I fell several times on my tailbone. Ended up bruising it, making every fall after that much more painful. Got these to protect my tailbone and continue riding. While the first time felt a bit weird wearing them, they help reduce the pain of subsequent falls. I forgot I was wearing them while riding. Side pads can be removed and I might next season since I didn’t see any advantage to them but I only used them at greens and blue runs. Fell on some icy areas and could tell they were helping absorbing some of the impact. These were not tested on extreme riding or park. So far... Got a large for about a 35 inch waist.

Love the extra protection to my bum :)

I've used it several times

I was fitted for a size L and all the reviews of these types of products said they run small so I went for the L - it was too big so I exchanged for the M and they are perfect. Easy exchange process so not a big deal and super fast shipping. I am 5'6 125lbs for reference. I wanted something to protect my bottom for snowboarding as a few years ago I broke my tailbone from falling hard on an icy spot. Ever since then I have been super nervous when I fall - cause hey it happens. I love these padded pants! Good tailbone protection and hip pad protection. I can easily wear these under my snowboard pants and it doesn't seem noticeable - probably would be little more noticeable with ski pants since they are usually a lot slimmer. I took a couple easy falls and felt no pain or discomfort! I am so glad I bought these. As I said I did a lot of research and was trying to figure out the best option - checked out amazon and read a lot of mixed reviews and then some with more protection were really expensive. I went with backcountry because I have purchased products before and have been happy, the price was more than reasonable and when I wanted the product demo video it was exactly what I was looking for. I would suggest these for anyone needing some extra padding protection on the mountain for sure!

Bad for tailbone

I returned this product before using it

The back padding pretty much just covers your tailbone, and as such if you fall, all the weight of your fall goes right to your tailbone. Very poor design in my opinion.

These shorts are pretty bomb proof which makes me feel invincible in them, although I don't know if that's necessarily a good thing. In all seriousness though these shorts are legit. The padding is definitely going to come in handy for falls and I love the heavy duty tailbone protection . I'm working on stepping up my game in the park so they'll definitely be put to the test. They are a little bit bulkier than I was expecting them to be but that's a very minor issue and they're totally worth it.
