Better than they look!

Ok, they look great so my title might be misleading but I'm really talking about how many pins they have and that they ride "bigger" than the 100x100 would make me think. There's not a ton of pins but they grip incredibly well. So good that I can use my favored, but less grippy, Shimano shoes rather than Five10's. Other companies have similar measurements but the contact patch is far smaller where the black kat's have a huge contact patch. I run these pedals on my everyday bike, everything from laps on flow jump lines to 60 mile 8,000ft days, best pedals I've ever owned. Right at 200 hours on them and they have had many a rock strike (the slide over well rather than catching) and they are smooth and minimally gouged. Very impressed with the quality, Deity really does live up to the hype.

Pedal for the casual biker

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

This pedal does not work with one of the stickiest shoes, the Five Ten Freerider Pro. The pins are wide and way too short for it to grip the shoe. I took a huge spill on a jump because of these not sticking well. As a reference, I "upgraded" from the Chester pedals.

I’ve had the extract same experience with the exact same shoes. The pins on the BlackCats are trash!

FLAT PEDALS WIN MEDALS

Killer flat pedals, tons of grip and the look great too!

Great pedal!

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

If you don't quite need the platform and stickiness of the TMACs, look no further than the Black Kats. Another great option from Deity. Just a touch of concavity on these pedals keeps your foot planted whether you are pedaling some chunky stuff that is bouncing you all over the place or screamin' on the downs!

Staying Put

Familiarity:

I love the concavity in these pedals. Your feet sink right in and don't move an inch.

Very Happy So Far!

Had an issue where my crank booties would bite with other pedals. Although not my first choice in pedals, these have been great so far! I would like somewhat better bearings in these, but that is literally my only complaint. Great feel and grip!

Not Another 5 Star Review

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Oh yeah it is! I can pretty much only echo what's been mentioned in the reviews already. I'm a rider that switches from flats to clips regularly and the problem I've always had with flats is bouncing around on the pedals in super rocky terrain. Well, those days are gone and I may not put clips back on my bike ever again! I'm super picky about how a pedal feels underfoot and these are the best flats I've ever ridden. The shape allows my metatarsal to fit snugly in the leading cavity combined with the concave shape, my feet are going NOWHERE on these pedals. Scooping the rear end up bunny hopping and powering through the bottom part of the pedal stroke has never been easier on a pair of flats. Turn the confidence and the fun knob to 11 and rip!

Solid Flats

I bought these for my boyfriend. He recently switched back to flats and loves these. Grip is good, construction is solid. No complaints so far!

Shred

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I've used these pedals for two years now and don't think I'll really run with anything else. Park riding, techy Moab riding, and 20+ mile days, these pedals handle it all and never have be second guessing my foot placement. The concavity is just right and gives a great lock-ed feeling. My only downsides are that I initially had lots of pedal strikes and that some of the pins fell out. Pedal strikes are just the nature of the beast with larger flat pedals and over time you learn to time your pedal strokes better. As for the pins falling out it's because I never checked to ensure they were tight and they rattled out. Luckily Deity provides extra pins for you and a dap of loctite ensures they never budge. While not the least expensive flat pedal out there, they are an amazing pedal for the price. I highly recommend them!

Where you goin?

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

NOWHERE! Ok, well you'll actually be going everywhere because your feet will be firmly planted on these pedals and not moving the slightest bit! I was wearing some basic vans and they did great.

Solid

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I have ridden these for the last year or so and don't have any complaints. The grip is good and the pedals are solid... I have broken a couple of the pins off due to pedal strikes but i expect these to last me a long time.

These pedals pass the banana peel test. So sticky, you feel like you're clipped in. The boys are stoked!

Confidence Inspiring

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I have been using these pedals for a few months now and have really learned to love them. I have always been a clipless guy and this was the first time I really committed to flats and it has been amazing. I wish the middle of the pedals allowed for some more pins but they have pretty good grip anyways. They are super durable, and I can see them being in my life for a while.

Came Back for a Second Pair

Bought a set of these last year. Ended up just picking up a second bike and had to get Deity for the new bike. Simply can't be beat.

If you want flats, go DEITY!

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I got these for my boyfriend and he is obsessed with them. He got a new bike and couldn't put any other pedal on his bike.. He had the Decoy pedal on his previous bike that he got rid of and the Black Kat is the next generation of the Decoy. The Black Kats are actually even better than the Decoy due to the fact you can replace the studs way easier because each stud can be removed with an allen wrench vs the Decoy's you had no allen access. On the Decoy, you had to somehow find something to pinch the stud securely enough to unscrew the stud. The Black Kat is the solution to that problem. Deity is the way to go if your looking for flat pedals. They are bullet proof pedals that can take a beating on rock hits. The pedal will give you that rugged grip that you will never find with plastic built pedals. These pedals will make your bike so much better due to the fact they are made for aggressive riding. Even if your are new to riding and think your not an aggressive rider, these pedals will make you more confident because you will feel how grippy they are on your feet. If your looking for an even better pedal than the Black Kat, try the Blade Runners or the TMACS. Ride Deity!!

Ditto!

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Read the reviews below. These pedals are super grippy, make you feel like you are clipped in and a great transition for me from clips. Super happy. Since I can't ride clips due to ACL issues this summer I ended up putting these on my Niner RTL 9 RDO gravel bike and my SC Bronson C and love them. Only issue I have seen with both pairs is there is a rubber seal on the pedal that is meant to protect the spindle in the peddle that has ripped or come off of each set. Not a major issue, but will see what it does to the pedals after a couple months of riding. Overall great pedal!

Love them! Like riding clipless and no snow build up. I've been really happy with and would definitely recommend them

Deity pedals

These pedals are some of the best, I’ve tried at least 15 different flat petals in the past five years and so far these are the best bang for your buck pedals. I absolutely never slip off their profile keeps your foot locked in place. I definitely recommend these to anyone who wants to stay planted on their bike.
