Overpriced, Cheap, Flimsy, Materials
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
This bag is incredibly disappointing, especially given the full retail price tag of $178. The pleather material isn't strong enough to maintain the shape of the bag and there's little to no support padding, causing the bag to have unsightly creases, bends, and folds throughout. Aesthetically, the material looks more like tire rubber than [fake] leather. The straps have zero padding and aren't wide enough to provide good support if you're carrying heavier items and the adjusters are cheap plastic (couldn't even spring for metal adjusters or durable nylon straps on a near $200 bag....) The inside pockets are made of low quality materials as well - the mesh pocket netting is thin and the electronic sleeve is very flimsy and cheap feeling - each are likely to tear or rip over time or with repeated use. The discreet daisy chain and the full zip around features are great, but this alone doesn't justify the hefty price tag or make up for the overall sub-par quality. And the hook and go feature only works with other bags from the same line, not any of your existing luggage or bags- you're paying for a feature you're unlikely to use. If you're looking for a small day pack or travel bag that's better quality, more affordable, and still minimalist looking, try the first version of the Sherpani Avalon, I've had the bag for 3 years and put it through the ringer (travel, commute, socializing, day trips, etc) and it still looks the same as the day I bought it.
