Prepare for takeoff.
The only thing easier than traveling with The Hugger 30L Bag by Db is packing in it. With exactly enough room to be your carry-on luggage, the front panel zips open to reveal a box-shaped main packing compartment. A 15-inch laptop sleeve provides a quick and easy process through the airport security line, while a smaller top compartment helps to keep all of your smaller essentials only a pocket away. The durable design features a rugged polyester fabric, polyethylene back-protection plate, and ABS protection ribs to keep all of your contents safe as they’re shoved underneath the seat in front of you on the airplane or while shifting around in the overhead bins. Plus, the innovative hook-up system shifts the weight of your bag from your shoulders to over the wheels of any rolling Db bags using the metal G-buckles and gear loops on the front.

- Q & A
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
DB has changed the game. For years I was hooked on the Patagonia black hole duffel. But one trip with this bag, and I was sold. Ill never go back.
No only is it sleek and stylish, but soft. The back panel and straps is lined with a polyester fabric. So I dont have those ugly and painful red marks on my shoulders/back. For so long I dealt with other bag dig into my shoulder...... WELL NO MORE!
The Only Bags i Travel With
So good its shocking. I took this on a quick trip to NY as a one bag to do it all and it did it all. I got several changes of clothes, two pairs of shoes, a camera and some accessories for that camera. My favorite part of this bag is how easy it is to get access to whatever i need quickly. I could see photographers using this bag, people who want to travel without rolling luggage, or athletes looking for bags that make separating awkward gear and carrying it easy.
Great Travel Bag
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
This bag has some really awesome features. Stands up by itself giving you access to the top pocket. The main compartment opens all the way giving you full access to load and unload gear without having to dig thru the whole bag.
The laptop pocket is plenty big enough for a full size laptop, the opening however makes it very difficult to fit anything other than a macbook.
Great for Travel
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Choosing a perfect travel pack can be just as difficult as finding the best flavor ice cream in a Japanese vending machine (hint: its not matcha). Either way, I was glad to have found the Db Hugger. What I appreciated the most about this bag was it's simplicity - no unnecessary bells and whistles, just a simple and burley design. The bag has two pockets: the main compartment that unzips in a horseshoe shaped fashion and a top pocket near equivalent to the size of goggle storage on a ski pack.
When fully packed, the bag is low profile and sleek (for its size). The material used on the sides is padded and reinforced with a super high denier for added durability - bomb proof! Just don't say that on the plane. The large pocket has inner mesh side zips on each side - best for storing things like flip flops for quick access in an otherwise large compartment. I used packing cubes (from Osprey!) to help keep me organized. The top pocket was great for quick storage items like my passport, cash, snacks, etc. and had a bit of structure to keep it from getting crushed. While traveling, I kept a mini TSA pad lock on this pocket to keep my stuff safe. Oh ya, the back panel has an exterior lap-top sleeve that's side entry (super easy access) and well padded to keep it safe from external pressure.
Ultimately, I used this as my one and only pack for two weeks of travel through the Philippines. It was large enough to fit enough supplies, but sleek enough that I wasn't bumping into everything while navigating through crowds and tight areas. It also looks somewhat low key (no flashy colors, logos, etc) which was appreciated. I felt confident in it's durability and water repellency at all times. My final thought is that packing and unpacking was super easy as the entire front panel unzips and folds back to provide the larges access point possible to the main compartment. If you're looking for a simple but rugged bag with no unnecessary straps, buckles and compartments - this is one is a perfect fit.
