    Tough Enough for fire season

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I got these for my boyfriend who uses them for wildland fire. Fire season is rough on wools and he typically needs to buy new socks mid season. These ones are much higher quality than the REI brand wools he's had in the past, and they seem very well structured. There is alternating cushioning and elastic to ensure breathability and movement. He's pretty excited about them. We will update post-fire season.

    Buying more

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large

Size foot 10.5, Size ordered Large- True to size fit, extremely comfortable. Slightly more padded than I thought they would be, because it is my first padded sock purchase, but wow- how have I been hiking without these? Perfect crew length to sit above a taller boot, and did not experience any blisters/pain when I typically get pressure/irritation below my big toe when hiking long distance. Did not think that these would be the full solution, but it seems that they are! Used in cold snow climates and wet rain, they kept me warm (around 30-40F in snow) in a leather boot, and were breathable where I had no sweat- no significant moisture. Crossed a river in a trail runner, so my shoes were soaked, the socks got wet, but hanging them up they dried quickly. Planning on buying more pairs for longer trips.

    Best socks ever!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small

and I'm someone who is a sock lover in general.

I don't think I'll buy any other socks for hiking (or life in general, honestly) because these ones do it all so perfectly! As to be expected with wool, they insulate well, breathe, and manage moisture from sweaty feet and stream crossings. But beyond that, my feet feel so lovingly supported even after over a year of regular use. They just keep on keepin on! :)

    Solid Socks

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

Darn Tough, as usual, did a great job with these socks. They were the sole socks I used on a recent 26 mile hike and they were comfortable, warm, breathable, and quick drying. Recommended.

    Warm and Strong

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size

These socks feel high quality and are warm and fit really well. Love the lifetime guarantee. I gave these ones as a gift, but I own several pairs of darn tough socks myself, and they are all holding up marvelously after years of use.

    Bomber Pair of Sock

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium Size 9

These Socks literally rock. I highly recommend these for anyone who is an avid backpacker or hiker or just plain likes nice socks that will last forever. They are full merino wool so they wick away sweat and keep my feet dry and free of blisters.

    Best Socks On The Market

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: Runs large

Darn Tough makes the best socks on the market. Can wear multiple days in a row on the trail with no issues.

    Pros:
    Durable
    Prevent blisters
    Dry Quickly

    Cons:
Attract every sticker and piece of grass
Run a little large, recommend buying a size smaller. I wear a 10.5 and medium fits perfectly.

    Excellent quality

Our family loves Darn Tough socks for their durability, and my dad was excited to get these as a gift. These socks really do last longer than most other brands. They are a great thickness and fit very well. They work well with hiking boots or trail running shoes. Will definitely be buying more as a gift for my dad!

      Great quality all around sock!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

Darn Tough is a really high quality sock! They last forever. They are the type of sock you can get by with just 3 pairs on an 8 day expedition. They are super comfy, thick high quality wool. Awesome! Smartwool and Darn Tough are my top 2 sock brands, I wouldn't be able to pick one over the other, but Darn Tough does say "Darn Tough" on the toe, which is a fun conversation starter.

      Best socks I own

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: XL

Comfortable, durable, keep your feet dry, come in good colors - what else could you ask for? No problems with blisters. As someone with large feet (15 DD) I was worried they'd fit strange. An XL has been great for me and they haven't shrunk yet. Couldn't recommend them enough.

      Love these Socks.

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: XL

I was in the market for some new hiking socks and these fit he bill perfectly. They keep you feet dry and comfortable all day.

I have a narrow foot and find that socks...

I have a narrow foot and find that socks that are for men and women are too bulky. Does Darn Tough have socks for women?

Dorothy, I have what I call a crow foot for a man. Size 9 very slim and narrow foot. I bought a size large pair in these socks to try out and see how they woulf fit thinking that they probably would be too large, but I'd rather too large than too small...obviously. The large hug my crow feet very well and I luv these socks so much that I bought the last two pair of celery green (hehe) pairs that they had left. I will definitely be buying up a few more pairs of these, although I'm sad bout the celery green color disct. (I'm a hunter and love the camo aspect of the colors). But to answer your overall question I would not be scared to buy these socks as a woman cuz if the large snugly fit my crow feet then I am sure they will do you well! Did I mention I LUV these socks? BC does have some women's socks listed for Darn Tough, but as I said...even the unisex should be fine!

There are a few patterned pairs of Darn Tough Women's socks at Backcountry.com, but I know they have a much larger variety of women's socks at their website. I've never worn them of course, but I won a pair of Women's DT socks once and gave them to a friend and she LOVES them. Tells me every time she has them on (which is often).

I'm a US 11.5 men's, A or B width. I have some Darn Tough socks (micro crew, boot socks, in-town), and they fit exceptionally well, but I don't have trouble with most other socks so your foot might be narrower than mine. Icebreaker's Hike Mid socks seem perhaps a little narrower, so you might investigate a pair of them as well. On the bright side, you'll make a lifetime friend if you try a pair and have to give it away :)
