Great boot, until it isn't
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
- Size Bought:
- 11
- Height:
- 6' 3"
- Weight:
- 220
I wore these boots for about 6 months before the leather and canvas began to separate. Other than them falling apart on me, they were great. To be fair I am harder on boots than most people. I'm a land surveyor so most days saw 5-10 miles of off trail hiking. After contacting backcountry they made the situation better than I expected. This interaction was the first time I was informed the intended use for these boots is casual, so maybe I was using them wrong.

Great Boot

I did a ton of research on boots and ended up purchasing the Danner Ridge boots here from Backcountry with a discount code. I ordered my sneaker size 9.5 and when they arrived they were a perfect fit. Extremely well made boots that look fantastic. These boots can be used in almost any setting from a casual stroll about town to outdoor activities. I originally bought these to pop in and out of my favorite fly fishing spot but now wear these boots daily. The light weight of the boot is initially surprising but that doesn?t take away from the solid quality. The first time I put them on they had a rough new-boot feel and I was initially concerned, but within a week the boots leather and canvas had formed to my feet. The feel and comfort is amazing and the insert in the boot is perfect for heel support. Other reviewers have mentioned the difficulty of getting your foot in and out of the boot because of the tongue and small opening, and yes that is an initial issue. But give the boots some time and they will stretch in no time and easily slip on and off. I?ve been in and out of standing water with these boots and had no issue with getting wet. At nearly $400 these boots are a long term investment but in my opinion very well worth it. They?ll have your feet covered for years to come.
