    A whole lotta' lug.

Inspired by and built to thrive in the damp conditions of the Pacific Northwest, the Danner Women's Mountain 600 Hiking Boot is a trail-slaying hiker that's at home when pushing long miles over varying terrain. To assure it can stand up to the worst of the Cascades, the folks at Danner made the 600 out of oiled full-grain leather that on its own will resist water, but when coupled with the company's proprietary Danner Dry lining, will render the boot impervious to torrential rain and profuse puddle splashes (though you may still need some gaiters for shin-deep exploits). And to top it all off, the 600 features a custom-made Vibram Fuga outsole that's custom-made for slick, wet, and rocky surfaces, so don't hesitate to go explore the tide pools of the Olympic Coast without worrying about slippery kelp getting you down.

    • A rugged boot for hiking, backpacking, or urban wear
    • Full-grain leather and nylon upper is super durable
    • Danner Dry tech keeps your feet unsaturated
    • Ortholite footbed provides cushioning and support
    • Vibram midsole increases lifetime of boot
    • Vibram outsole for gripping wet or dry terrain
    • Item #DAN002U

What do you think about this product?

    Have questions about this product?

    But not for me....

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

Oh, how I wanted to love these! My very first pair of hiking boots, more decades than I care to think about, were Danner boots. Sadly, they no longer make them narrow enough for the one skinny part of my body - my feet. Clearly beautifully made, with plenty of support, they just swam on my foot (especially heels), even with super thick socks. So, back they went, with regret.

    Light and durable

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

My first impression of these boots when I pulled them out of the box was how well-made they are. It is easy to tell that Danner pays attention to the little details. This boot is designed to handle tough backpacking and hiking trips, but will be at home on a dog walk or a coffee shop sipping your local brew. Most other boots I have had with a Vibram sole are heavy, but durable. I was blown away by how light these boots are! I have taken them on a few mixed conditions hikes and the grip of the Vibram sole is excellent. Through puddles and snow my feet stayed dry. The 7.5 fits great and matches my typical shoe size.

    Good for daily winter boots

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I've never seen this much thin and soft, cushioned, light hiking boots. I even can feel the metal ring from inside, and bumps on the road. And it cannot let the moisture go out easily.

By the way, every material of every parts are high quality, like leather, outsole, insole etc. I live in Korea, and usually mountains are rocky, and hiking shoes made in Korea is usually perfect for rocky granite mountain.
but I think this boots is more suitable for daily winter boots. (not perfect for hiking)
I bought this in purpose of daily use with a cool design, so no complains for me.

[size: true to size] I usually wear women 8. I have wide feet and my toes are spreaded like a frog, so that I always need more toe room. Actually 7.5 is my right size as length, but I always choose 8 for room for toes and well fitted when wearing a hiking socks. I satisfied with size 8 of this boots.

    Best Lightweight Hikers

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These boots are super lightweight and feel as close to a sneaker as an hiker I own. They are extremely comfortable and soft. They are one of my favorite pairs of shoulder season hikers. They fit true to size and require no break in.

I am notoriously hard on my equipment. I left my last boots in Cuzco, Peru a few months ago, after a 100mi+ hike killed 'em dead for the last time, and I was a bit devastated by it - you get a personal connection with the gear you sweat and bleed your adventures into, you know? It took a long time to work myself into committing to new boots, but since I live in the PNW, I needed some good ones to be my new side kicks (zing!).

After much research and trying boots on across the spectrum of what's out there (high ankle, low ankle, weight variables, fit, waterproof ratings, oh my!), I tried on these boots and was absolutely floored. The comfort and stability of these, right out of the box, was incredible!

Our first adventure was tredging waist-deep through a gorge for a day. They dried out and sprung right back. They were lightweight and protected my feet against the river rocks and boulders.

Our next adventure was camping amongst the wildflowers and glaciers in the Goat Rocks Wilderness. After many miles of hiking, I had a couple of sore spots on my baby toes and the inside of the widest part of my foot. I've never had boots that didn't do this while I'm wearing them in, and have found these to so far be the least intense for a wearing-in process for long-term boots.

It's safe to say that there are an incredible amount of adventures ahead with these boots, and I am already in love!

**P.S. the red laces are WONDERFUL!!

Comfy, flexible, light weight, and ready to hike 10+ miles for my first go! Seriously a break in ready shoe with enough stability for long multi day hikes, yet light enough to throw on for quick ones with the pup in the wee hours of the morning. Love these :)
