A fine boot

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I realize that these boots are made for "backpacking" and not peaking mountains and doing trail work but that's what I bought them for. The boots held up great in the beginning but 3 months in and the boots are essentially falling apart via the stitching in the sides of the boot which is a bit disappointing considering the cost, although to be fair they've been through a lot. I love the boots but have purchased new ones and have essentially retired them. I personally think they look great and they are very comfortable and needed zero break in for me.

I love these. The day they fail and need retiring, which is probably like a decade away, I'm buying another pair. They break in fast (all things considered), they're comfortable, they're extremely capable. I've worn them just to wear them and I've worn them when I absolutely needed them. They've yet to let me down and I've come to trust these as much as any other piece of gear. I think they're good looking, though my wife emphatically disagrees. I know that a lot of people feel some manner of ill will towards Danner for not being the same company they were in the 80's or whatever. I've heard people argue against them for being all hype, or not as technically advanced as their competitors, or some of the manufacturing going overseas, or whatever whatever whatever. Danner is still in the business of making bombproof boots. This is one of them.

Very well built. Only put 30 miles on them and they seem to be breaking in ... only problem with this boot is I wear 10.5 but the boot is more of 11 size feel. Left a lot of unwanted room. I bought inserts to help fill the void. Hills. Rocks. Mud. These boots can tough all of it.

I?m a 53 year old retired Army Green Beret. Been all over the world, wore almost every brand of major high end boot while in SF. I?m also a hard-core backcountry bowhunter and have hunted Alaska, all across Canada, all over the Rockies....etc. I am a HUGH fan of the Danner Crater Rim boot. I have 3 pair of them and have several hundred miles on each pair without a single issue. Invest in a quality pair of Gaiters and head the F-out without worrying about your boots!!
