Updating from my previous review: I can say that the discomfort caused by scratching from within the shoe seems to have gone away in its own. I haven’t experienced it at all lately. The shoes definitely receive a nod for stability and support, as well as comfort. I recently spent all day “hiking” a convention floor with little ones in tow, carrying one of them for much of the time. There was some outdoor play mixed in later, foot racing and urban “rock climbing”, walking ledges and making a playground out of fancy corporate landscaping. I had little to no foot fatigue at the end of it all, and the usual flare up from a severely sprained ankle years ago didn’t flare up at all. The shoes are also remarkably lightweight and breathable. I fully recommend for those putting in long hours of serious dad-duty.

Pros: The shoes are quite handsome. I might try out some different laces but they look great. The leather material feels synthetic and maybe a little stretchy but it looks nice. The fit is true to size, fits my foot like a glove. They are flexible like an athletic shoe but the outsole provides a sturdy platform with a lot of grip to it as well. Cons: The one concern I have is where comfort is concerned. There are some rough edges where the tongue was sewn in, right under the first set of lace holes. They scratch the top knuckles on my big toes in both shoes. It’s worse going downhill. It’s bad enough that I feel like they could blister after a few miles. It could probably be resolved by wearing thicker socks, except that I bought these specifically as summer shoes to wear with lightweight socks. It’s one of those things that will either work itself out or it won’t, and I’ll end up doctoring the shoes somehow. Another thing is that they seem a bit overpriced for what they are. That’s subjective and others may feel differently. I used a 20% off code that brought the price into more reasonable territory.
