    Freedom for the next bend.

The Dakine Men's Derail Short is sure to satisfy your corner-drifting, drop-hucking antics with its relaxed fit and fluid flexibility. Catering to freeride junkies and downhill racers, the Derail's longer cut and specially patterned knees easily slide over pads when you're shuttling with friends and hitting lift-accessed downhills at the resort. Four-way stretch fabric ensures unrestricted movement for bombing descents and sending hits in the bike park. Rounding things out, interior waistline adjustments provide a secure fit over your favorite liner shorts while the zippered side pocket handily carries snacks and small riding accessories.

    Tough and Comfortable

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Originally I bought these shorts for mountain biking, and mountain biking alone. However I find myself wearing them just about anywhere and everywhere. I bought them in the black, and they're extremely easy to keep clean. They're certainly durable, and I can envision myself riding these shorts for a few more years, at least. The zipper pocket is perfect for your keys, or anything you may not want to lose while riding.

They do run small. I'm about a 29-30 waist, however I had to send back the 30's and order 32's. I would recommend sizing up!

    Great for spinning chairs

    • Fit: True to size

I picked these up specifically for riding lifts. They fit well over knee guards and the material is durable. They don't breathe was well as lighter trail shorts, but I don't intend to use them for trail riding. They also provide plenty of stretch and waist adjustment.

Felt cheap compared to fox and yeti

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 160lbs

I would go with a fox or yeti shorts instead of these. They are nice but for a few extra bucks you get a ton more quality.

    Good shorts

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

When I bought these shorts I was surprised on how comfortable these shorts were and the material is great. Very happy with my purchase. Went with a size 32 and I was on the fence about sizing up, still happy with the 32 but I probably would of gone with a size up. 32's are my normal size I wear and these feel a bit snug.

    Good, basic all around short

I wore these shorts for a week straight on a recent trip to Canada. We did everything from pedal laps to laps in bike park. They withstood plenty of carnage on that trip. I have 32

The side pocket keeps an iPhone from flapping around too much.

    Solid

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small

Overall great short. Not super stiff and as uncomfortable as some full on DH shorts but definitely tougher fabric than your typical all-mountain git-up. Fabric stretches in the right places and they are a good length to not hang up on knee pads. No complaints. I typically wear a 32 in everything and got these in a 34 and they fit well/snug.
