From placid lakes to rushing rivers.
They say you can never step in the same river twice, and for the Dagger 2018 Axis 10.5 Kayak—it’s especially true. It will follow you from placid lakes to swift-moving rivers without skipping a paddle. By taking the best traits of a whitewater kayak and fitting them with a recreational boat’s hull and storage, no body of water is off limits to this versatile cross-over.
The high-volume bow sheds waves and fast moving water like a traditional whitewater kayak, while the extended stern and adjustable skeg effortlessly tracks through flatwater. When transitioning from a glassy lake one day to a rushing river the next, the cockpit can be retrofitted with thigh braces for more steady control. A foam seat and sliding foot braces adjust to your height and comfort, whether you’re on an all-day voyage through intercoastal waterways or just spending the morning floating around your local pond. The bow features a mesh pocket attached with bungee rigging and the stern provides a covered hatch for storing your dry goods. Plus, soft touch handles give your wet hands a break when loading up or putting in.

Really fun boat
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I have used this in several lakes now. The one feature that I absolutely love is the Skeg. The thing is awesome for tracking. Boy does it keep you on a straight path. I have yet to try and take this on a river because of its hybrid-like make. 10-6 is plenty to hold the weight of a full sized man plus gear.
I am enjoying this more than I thought I would. Here is a little about me: I am 5â9 170lbs female. I have been doing recreational kayaking for 2 years in an inflatable. By no means am I even good at this sport but I do enjoy it and plan on getting better. Here is what I like about the boat- the sked works just fine and I noticed a significant difference while using it if I want to go straight. I purchased the freeze color combination and love that the sun doesnât reflect into my eyes like the fluorescent colors do. Itâs lightweight and easy to load/unload/carry. The seat is really comfortable-the longest Iâve sat in it has been 4 hours. I like the adjustable foot pegs, plenty of storage, cup holder is nice but isnât big enough for my hydroflask. It would fit a med size drink ok but nothing bigger. I love the paddle strap on the side-so happy I didnât buy a leash. Itâs really stable, a storm rolled in and the waves picked up in the lake and I felt comfortable as far as tipping goes, no water came over the stern of the boat during the storm rolling in and slightly choppy water.
Cons-the only con I have is the cup holder. Itâs really small but not a deal breaker for me.
I am supper happy with my boat. I think this was just right for me and what I use it for-mostly lake and small creek, want to try river... itâs a good price point for a beginner and maybe someone with more experience- I will let you know after I get some more of that. You could easily fit a toddler between your legs if you needed to-bring a cushion to place Iâve rthe cup holder to make it more comfortable.
