Stamp 1 Pedals

The Stamp 1 Pedals bring the impressively thin profile and supportive platform of Crank Brother's proven Stamp series into a more affordable price point than ever. By constructing the body out of a durable composite material, Crank Brothers is able to keep the cost down while saving a considerable amount of weight compared to the aluminum Stamp 2 pedals. You still get a premium bearing and seal system that resists contamination season after season, as well as your choice of two platform sizes optimized for a different range of shoe sizes. The large pedals have a particularly large platform, but both sizes inspire confidence when the trail points downward and gravity takes over. There are 9 adjustable pins per side to ensure your feet stay securely in place, and at only 13mm thick these pedals do an exceptional job at minimizing rock strikes.

Terrible!

Got these on sale and thought the reviews had to be overblown... WRONG! Didn't even take these out of my driveway they are so slippery.

I have owned many a pair of Crank Brother pedals through the years and never had a single complaint about how my foot made contact with and stuck to the pedal. These pedals on the other hand changed that. I read the reviews after my purchase and figured I would at least put them on my bike and check them out since they were on the way. Well, all of the negative reviews are true and after taking 1 look at the design from the side it is obvious why they are worthless. The middle bar sits way too high making it impossible for the pegs to contact your shoe. I put them on my bike for a test ride down the driveway and verified they do not work well after a quick roll off the pedal. The price is great but the pedals are not. If you read this and other reviews on this thread take them seriously and don't purchase these. Save yourself the loss of a few bucks in return shipping and possibly a broken ankle. Very disappointed Crank Bros

Fail.

There is no other way to put this: these pedals are awful. I have never felt less securely attached to my bike than when I'm standing on these pedals, and that's a fact. I thought I was taking crazy pills, but these darn things are seriously malformed. My feet pretty much don't contact the pegs on the front & back of the pedal because the center line is so high. It's back asswards! What everyone else says about them in the reviews is completely true. I have no idea how Crank Brothers got this wrong. All their other stuff is great! I won't stop buying their stuff because of this, but still - holy cow&

TERRIBLE!! Let down, they look great.

These pedals are convexed rather than concaved. The axle area in the center of the pedal is TALLER than the rest of the pedal. Not flat, not concaved. Zero grip, your foot would want to slip off of it. Pedals look great from a distance. Would be a down grade from the most stock pedals. They look strong and solid. I hope they fix this, it would be a great pedal.

I don't understand how this released

I don't know what kind of shoes Crankbros used to test this but even using it for riding around town ended in pedal slips. The worst MTB product I have used by far, and it's surprising cause Crankbros usually make great stuff. Avoid at all costs

My mistake as I didn?t read the reviews like I should. Great affordable pedal but the ridge down the center made me never feel like my feet were secure. Slipped pedals in dry, wet, cold, warm, any condition, just couldn?t keep my feet on the pedal. The solution, instead of making them slim, beef up the exterior so they have a convex layout that your feet/shoes sit into. I will be replacing them.

Budget option that doesn't lack

I've had these on my Santa Cruz Bronson now for about 6 months. They are for sure a budget option coming in at around the lowest price point for flat pedals out there ($50). However they have held up pretty well for me. I don't pedal strike too often as there aren't a ton of rocks on the trails in southern California. However the few times I have struck one, they don't give that feeling of resonating through your entire skeleton as the alloy pedals often do. One of my favorite things about the CB design is that there are 2 pins near the center of the pedal. I find that if you land a jump with the heel of your foot back a bit that these 2 pins can be that difference of the extra grab needed to forgive the slight misplacement of the shoe on the pedal and keep you from slamming your shin. I'm sure the composite won't hold up for as long as their metal counterparts but riding wise I don't notice a pedal feel difference between plastic and the metal pedals I've ridden. Grip wise I actually had to adjust the pins all the way in to their max height and that helped with the convex shape of the pedal itself. I find the grip to work well paired with a grippy fiveten shoe. I've sent some big stuff and had no issues with slipping on these where I have on other brands. I was going to upgrade to the stamp 7 for my other bike but actually ended up going with these again as the price is on point for what you get. Even the higher end CB pedals use the same internals so I didn't see the need to spend 3x the money. Also I'm a size 9.5 shoe and use the Large size platform. I've tried the small as well but the large is more stable feeling. The small is better for those tight trail sections tough for sure.
