Only tool you will need
- Familiarity:

This will be my second time grabbing this multi tool. My first Crankbrothers 17 tool lasted me easily 5-6 years and survived the always wet Pisgah Forest on a daily basis though each season. Each tool has been used at least once and has still proven (personally) itself to be all I need.

For the on-the-go mechanic
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I don't particularly enjoy carrying a shop's worth of tools when I ride, but the Multi 17 gets me pretty close. Everything I've ever needed in a pinch has been on this tool (and it's gold, +5 style points). My only gripe in the months I've been using it is the loosening of the two bolts holding the bits together, but that's an issue that is easily fixed with a separate hex key.

Not for people who sweat
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Comp Cyclist was great in shipping and the tool is actually pretty good looking and has good functionality. The problem is the tool began to rust within a week of putting it in my bag. I didn’t ride in any rain, and I only ride on the road. I washed the rust off with white vinegar, but the second time it happened, the plating literally peeled off the metal. Now I’m not expecting it to hold up to an acid soak, but it shouldn’t rust the second day in the bag when it was wrapped in a paper towel.

Crank Bros make great tools and this is no exception, easy to throw into a pack or a saddle bag and does everything you would need in my opinion.

I never leave home (on my bike) without one. Perfect for dialing fit on the trail, bike general maintenance and putting together Ikea furniture. Everyone needs one.

5.0 out of 5 starsGreat asset to my bike
This is a great, relatively light weight tool that slips easily into a rear jersey pocket or camelback. Small and nice design. Anyone who rides a bike should have a multitool and this is a good choice

Best Bike Multi-Tool
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I have had this tool for close to 3 years now and it has never failed me. There are enough tools packed into this small package for most adjustments and many roadside repairs. The materials are top-notch and the weight in hand is solid, but not heavy. Crank Brothers designed the Multi-17 with the perfect balance of common tools using many Hex wrenches, a chain breaker, Torx-25 for your hydraulic brakes, and even spoke wrenches. If you don't have a bike specific multi-tool yet, this is the one to get. If you do already have a multi-tool, replace it with this one. Justin jjaspersen@backcountry.com 1.888.276.7130 ext. 4671

Super stellar

I purchased this tool specifically for bike commuting to work. Thus far, I'm super impressed with its durability, versatility, and packability. This little homie is lightweight yet burly - super convenient and fits in my Fi'zi:k saddle bag perfectly and is barely noticeable in my Timbuk2 commuter bag when I've just thrown it in there for convenience sake. It's definitely saved my butt a handful of times enroute to work. And it's got just enough tools and not one too many. Plus the gold is on point - supa fly.

I picked one of these guys up at the beginning of the summer and realized immediately that it is a must have. This little tool has gone with me everywhere- from road rides to mtn rides it has not let me down. Not too heavy and fits wherever you want it to. Definitely worth the purchase.

The Tool to Get It Done
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
This tool has bailed me out of more situations than I can count. Adjusting derialuers, straightening bars, fixing chains... it does it all. Has all the tools that you need for a bike and is contained in a small/light package. Only thing it doesn't have is small pliers, but that's more of a luxury item than a necessity.
