Hale Subzero Jacket
The Hale Subzero jacket prepares us to take on the road or trail in the depth of winter. A windproof and waterproof exterior protects against precipitation and the biting chill of winter wind, while the brushed polyester on the backs of the sleeves ventilates to prevent overheating. With winter comes shorter days, and the 360-degree reflectivity keeps us more visible on the road during low-light conditions. The Hale Subzero is cut for layering with a baselayer and has an anatomic fit for the riding position which eliminates bunching and keeps the key fabrics in place to keep you comfortable throughout the ride.

Great Jack for Cold Weather Rides
- I've used it several times
- Runs small
- Size Bought
- 5` 11"
- 180 lbs
I purchased this jacket about a month ago and have worn it a handful of times on cold, early morning rides. I believe this is a relatively new item and I couldn't find too much information or reviews on it before purchasing. However, I have other Craft garments that are great and I got it at a great price so I gave it a go. On the first ride I definitely overdressed wearing this jacket with 2 layers underneath. Temps in the morning were about 35 degrees F and I was sweating shortly into the ride. The next couple of rides at the same temps, I wore just a thin long sleeve base layer and this jacket. I was completely warm and still felt like I could probably have gone with something lighter underneath. And the most recent ride was temps in the low 30s with 30 MPH wind gusts and a wind chill in the 20s. With just 2 thin base layers I was completely warm and still managed to work up a pretty good sweat on a relatively easy ride. Wind does not penetrate this thing at all!! It's pretty amazing. I'm pretty sure I could use this easily in single digit temps with proper layering underneath. It's supposedly pretty water resistant as well but I haven't been in those conditions yet with this jacket. As for fit, I am usually a large in most cycling gear that is not "race" fit. I ordered this in an XL because I wanted room for layering underneath. It fits well with some room underneath but it's oddly tight across the chest and shoulders but nowhere else. It's actually kind of an odd cut and I can't compare that to any other jersey or jacket that I have. It's fine and I like the jacket enough in all other ways that this minor thing doesn't bother me. But it is noticeable when moving certain ways in the jacket. The jacket has a lot of storage with really roomy open rear pockets plus a zippered one that I really don't use. But its a nice option if you need to make sure that something is secured. The styling is nice and it's obvious that this is a high quality garment. The color is a crazy bright neon yellow with black accents. It's a good color for rides in the darker winter months. You will definitely be seen in this jacket! Lots of cheaper thermal jackets are nice and warm but they don't stop wind like this one. There are other options like Gore Windstopper items that are as good as this but they can be pretty pricy. If you can get this jacket at a decent price, it's a nice option for cold weather riding, especially in the wind.
