    Does the job

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I used these on a recent trip to Glacier NP. I would still recommend giving a loud clap or yell ever now and then while on the trail to alert bears you are there. These did their job.

I've put it through the Ringer

I got this bell to keep tempo with my singing during my hikes. It works similar to a metronome, which keeps the beat so my flow is sick!!!
Onetime on the trail, a group of travelers stumbled into my campsite and mentioned that they heard me singing and playing my bell. They told me how great and unique my sound was and then asked me if I wanted to jam with them.
We rocked around the campfire all night. I could see through the hearts and souls of complete strangers through the dancing and music being made that night.
Those strangers are now close friends of mine and I even met my wife, Moonbeam through one of them. We now have son, Chickpea and he's also learning to play the bell.
You never know where life is going to take you.
      Thanks Counter Assault Bells!!

      Its Always Christmas Time

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Everytime Im on the trail, I want to be reminded that Christmas is around the corner. Well, this does the trick! They aren't crazy loud, and they do the job. I haven't seen any bears yet, so they must be doing the trick! I also use one on my mountain bike so people know I'm coming, so thats also super useful.

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Refer to the previous reviews. John and Jeff nailed it.

Effective, annoying, necessary. You can put one of these on your dog too, who will likely be out ahead and give the bear warning before you would.

I also recommend carrying bear spray if you'll be out and about in bear territory.

      Be Noisy

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

It's a good idea to make noise while moving through bearitory, but what do you do when you don't have a song stuck in your head, and you and your trail buddies run out of things to talk about? You stick a bell on your pack and jingle jangle away. It lets the bears know you're approaching, which is great, because a surprised bear is a dangerous bear.
