Tried to find some Costas with frames I liked by going to some top local places. Their selections were not that big. I took a shot with Backcountry. The Howler frames in coconut fade have the look I wanted. Not too oversized industrial. Just a good looking set of shades that work everywhere. I was in need of a little extra help after the sale, and the people at Backcountry came through with good old fashioned professional customer service. I was treating myself to a top shelf pair of shades before my 1st trip to Hawaii. The thing to be aware of, the lenses really are glass, they will break. My 1st day there, exhausted from the flight, I laid down to get a photo of waves crashing against the rocks across an inlet. My new sunglasses, one earpiece hanging conveniently in my front pocket, came up shattered. The glasses were ruined. My vacation wasn't. They will be repaired. Laugh and learn from my mistake.
Costa Del Mar Howler
From the moment I opened the box and put them on I felt like they were custom made for my face. These frames are very comfortable and the lenses are SICK! I can honestly say that I can see clearer and with less eye strain than any other sunglasses have ever provided. You can wear these sunglasses all day without fatigue and the glass lenses are not heavy at all. I would recomend these Costa's to anyone looking for the ultimate in clearity from an optical quality lens.

If you take a look at the right-hand side of the page, under the price, you'll find a drop-down called "select options." The second from the bottom is the tortoise/copper option you're looking for, offered for $228.95.
You can also chat with a Backcountry rep with the Chat Now button above the price. Tell them what you want and they'll be happy to help you out.

Hey there, depending on where they broke, get with the mfg... did you buy them from BC.com? You can always return them; if your conscience allows...
Are the 580's worth the price?
Are the 580's worth the price?
Yes, the Costa 580 lenses are the best lenses in the sunglass business. They are patented by Costa. What the Costa 580 lenses do is totally block out the yellow light that the human eye can see. Yellow light causes glare and distortion. When you don't see yellow light all of the other colors are truer and more vivid. So your reds are redder, blues are bluer and greens are greener. It doesn't change the color of what you are looking at you are actually seeing the true colors out there. So from that perspective, yes the Costa 580 lenses are worth the price.
I have been wearing Costa's for the past twenty years. I work out side in my mobile home park every day which has a lot of reflective surfaces, and I fish offshore, inshore, and freshwater often. These glasses have always offered the best visuals and protection from UV light and glare. When they need service or repair, you box them, ship them, and they fix them. I just broke a pair that was discontinued, and they replaced them with a new $200.00 pair of Costa Del Mar Howlers for $50.00 and $12.00 shipping. How can you beat that? I've owned and worn several high end brands through the years, and none has made my eyes see or feel better than Costas. As for the 580 lens, if you can afford them, get'em. You'll be a customer for life.
