Leading the way.
Splitboarding has been experiencing a surge of innovative technologies and products over the last few years, and the latest to join the party are the Contour Hybrid Splitboard Skins. While the adhesive on most skins make them a pain to pull apart and lose its effectiveness in extremely cold temps, these skins employ an innovative Hybrid glue technology that makes these issues a thing of the past.
The adhesive layer sticks securely to your ski bases for reliability when you're skinning, yet pulls off your skis and separates from itself almost effortlessly, so you don't need to take off your skis to remove them or have a partner help you pull them apart in the parking lot. And since the glue is applied in sheets rather than melted on, it's much less temperature sensitive than standard glues, so it still performs well in bitter-cold temperatures. And when the adhesive gets covered in dirt and grit, you can simply clean it with warm water and mild soap so that it's like new again.

- Q & A
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I bought these to replace a pair of Backcountry splitboard skins that had a broken nose clip. These are a nice width and length to give great coverage on a wide board, but that is where the positives stop.
The glue can be cleaned easily but it is simply not very sticky. After one transition, a small amount of moisture rendered the glue useless. This happened each day during my first three uses. If these came with a useful/substantial/effective tail clip that would hold the skin to the board, it wouldn't be a big problem BUT the tail clips that are provided are a joke, they fall off almost immediately. I think I installed them properly but since Contour only sends you directions for ski skins (that are a totally different design!) I can't be sure. I looked for installation instructions online to no avail. I actually returned them to Backcountry as I was convinced the tail clips had been lost. The replacement box came with the same garbage clips and useless directions for skis. I was VERY disappointed with this product. Avoid!
