    Gone Fishin’.

The sun can do nasty things when it’s reflected off the water and streamed down from the sky, but Columbia’s Ultimate Catch Zero Women’s Hooded Shirt has you covered. The lightweight fabric blocks the sun, cools on contact with sweat, and wicks moisture to keep you cool when you’re waiting for bites, and the style’s low-key enough that you can take it out for a celebratory beer after a successful day on the water.

    • A lightweight fishing shirt with sweat-activated cooling fabric
    • Omni-Wick fabric keeps you dry when you’re casting in the hot sun
    • UPF 50 sun protection saves your skin from heavy doses of sunlight
    • Anti-odor treatment ensures no stink sticks to your shirt
    • Thumbholes keep your wrists covered when you’re casting
    • Hood provides neck protection without discomfort

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size

I love this, got size small. I'm 5'4, 130lbs, strong and athletic build. It fits great but is a little tight in the shoulders for me. Seems a lot of their clothing runs this way. I am debating returning for a larger size, although I like the rest of the fit.

So, I just started working at a zipline in Oklahoma. Because I'm a fair skinned person, sunscreen is simply a fact of life. I go through gallons and gallons of sunscreen in the summer, it feels like (and that's before having an outdoor job). So, this shirt seemed like a great alternative.
If you've never been to Ok, its extremely humid and hot in the summer. I'm pretty sure humidity was around 80% on Sat, and it was around 90F. There was a breeze occasionally, storms were moving through, and the sun was peaking our at times. To put it simply, it was hot. Very hot. Sure, we were standing 40 feet above the ground where they might be breeze, but there was no shade when the sun was out.
I decided to wear my shirt dry that morning and quickly came to the conclusion that I simply don't think I sweat enough. I was hot and sweaty, but the shirt didn't make me feel cool. It made me feel sticky and unexposed to the small breezes that would come. I only wore it on the first tour. I went for a short sleeve shirt on the next two outings.
On Sunday, I decided to try again, wet this time. Before each tour, I dunked the shirt in a bucket of water and carefully put it on (it took a bit...didn't help that I tried to put in on backwards in my haste). It worked great! Now, it would be dry by the time we came in, but I was cool for the two hours that we were out. Now, both humidity and temperature dropped by 10' over theres that. Still, it worked! I was much happier on Sunday then with Sat.
So, maybe dunk it in some water if its super hot out. The SPF worked great, and I loved the ponytail slit in the hood.
