I needed a rain jacket, and though I normally don't buy Columbia products, this one was too cute not to try. The first time I wore it was actually an accident; I was going touring and couldn't find my technical shell, so I brought this along as a backup. It ended up snowing all day and I was worried that it wouldn't be waterproof enough, but it performed amazingly! I stayed dry all day, which made for a great jaunt around the Wasatch.
I love the drop tail and waist cinch, too. It makes for a super classy, refined, and flattering fit. Plus, the mesh lining is soft and comfortable, so you can wear this jacket over just a t-shirt or tank top without worrying about it sticking to your skin (like a lot of rain jackets do). Overall, I'm seriously impressed with Columbia's craftsmanship on this jacket. Now I can stay dry in the rain AND look cute! A real win-win. Regarding sizing, I'm normally between a small and a medium, and I bought a medium in this jacket. I'm sure I could have gotten away with a small because of the length, but I prefer a bit baggier fit (plus it gives me more room for layering).
