A midlayer and more.
The Girls' Gold 550 Turbodown Hooded Down Jacket makes for a magnificent midlayer to ski in, and Columbia's innovative insulation makes this jacket worthy for winter casual-wear. Turbodown insulation combines protective synthetic insulation with lofty down insulation for enhanced winter protection that remains comfortably light. The Omni-Heat lining boosts warmth by reflecting her body heat back to her, resulting in a surprisingly toasty midlayer for winter skiing. Columbia also added a highly water-resistant Omni-Shield treatment to shed snowfall, so she can wear this jacket around town or at campsites from fall to spring.

Great down jacket for kids
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: True to size
This is a perfect down jacket for kids. Many other down jackets are pretty pricey. Columbia's down jacket is a great option for those who want to get their kids into a puffy, but don't want to break the bank. Because let's face it, who wants to spend a ton of money on a jacket knowing that their kid will outgrow it in 4 months. Just because these jackets are less expensive, they certainly didn't skimp. This jacket will keep your kidlet warm well into the middle of winter.
Fun jacket for girls
- Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
- Fit: True to size
I bought this for my goddaughter's 8th birthday. She looks great in it and wants the weather to turn colder so she can wear it more! It's super warm and windproof and offers a nice, thick level of insulation.
I was unsure about the sizing as size chart suggests S for 8 year old, M for 10/12 year old. I like to buy her stuff that will last more than one season, but I went for the small and it's plenty big for this winter and probably next, without looking too bulky.
I purchased in the Miami color - which is a great, fun option for girls that don't like to be in pink!
